Glowing Ivory Figurine (JC daily)Follow

Quick question:

Has the option to get the Northern Ivory from mammoths been recently added, or am I just exceptionally poor at reading quest descriptions? All this time I've been flying out to Grizzly Hills to get it from Shoveltusks, but I just noticed this morning that Mammoth has another option.

Ideas?

Pretty sure its a recent change or at least when I was doing the dailies it wasn't like that. I want to assume it was something added in 3.2.2 but I could be wrong.

Actually I just looked it up and it appears it was changed in 3.2 along with the name being changed from shoveltusk ivory to northrend ivory.

Yeah, I just noticed the change in description too when that daily cycled through recently for me. Though I will say that I happily went to kill nearby mammoths and didn't see it drop. I ended up having to travel for a Shoveltusk kill after all - perhaps the RNG God looked down displeasedly at me that day.

I had the same issue. I killed close to 20 mammoths in Storm Peaks before I gave up and went back to Grizzly Hills. Either they missed adding it to some of the mammoth loot tables or I just had really bad luck. I was excited when I saw it because it would mean that all of the JC dailies would be an extremely short hop from Dalaran. Scourge, Vrykul, and Iron Dwarves can all be found barely a hop over Dalaran's walls, but the shoveltusk ivory bit was a bit of a nuisance. (Yes, I'm a bit lazy about my JC dailies...I have two characters doing them now and fast = gewd imo).

I have completed this quest a couple of times by killing the mammoths around the Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight.

I read the same comments. The Ironwool Mammoths in Storm Peaks do not drop Ivory. Dragonblight seems to be the closest now.

Good to know - I'll have to try Dragonblight next time. At least it's a little closer. As you can see, like Aurelius, I am a lazy JC'er.

I managed to get mine in Borean Tundra off of the mammoth packs there while doing the fishing daily Blood Is Thicker, so it definitely drops off of some mammoths.

That explains a lot, but I was even more confused because I know I have gotten the ivory in the Storm Peaks. Turns out there are two other types of mammoths there, Stoic & Plains, that do drop it. They live further east though so likely Dragon Blight would still be faster.

A quick tip for JCs that are also working on SoH rep, the Stormforged Infiltrators in the Spy Hunter quest can and usually do drop the Iron Dwarf Brooch.

Those are the ones in the cave correct? That is the place I go, should I wear a SoH tabard?

It's the daily quest where you summon the ghost wolf and he sniffs out Iron Dwarves for you to kill. It's just outside the jormonger cave. Unfortunately there is still no SoH tabard unless they snuck one in while I wasn't looking.

Sorry to semi-necro the thread, but no one's mentioned it - the mammoths in the valley west of the SoH area (i.e. where you do the dorf spy daily) do drop the ivory quest item.

I think it might just be the ones around K3 that don't drop it. They're sort of a weird bunch. I've found that the ones in Dragonblight just north of Wyrmrest Temple are accessible and abundant enough to make for a quick daily.
