OK, I know that peeps want to make gold and I know they want to do the achievement but 10-20g EACH for mageroyal!?!?!?!?
Why didn't I think to farm a bunch ahead of time with my herbalist? >_<
PS - when selling eggs, please sell them in batches of 8 - I'm constantly /facepalming when I see idiots selling them in batches of 5 or 10.

why are you using the AH for either of these..... /facepalm.
2 of the easiest items in WoW to farm. 30 minutes and i had enough of both for all 4 of my toons....

Who said I was farming the AH - my rant is that I didn't think to have my herbalist farm them for the past few weeks so that I could rack in the gold too?
People see a possible profit niche and they will do they're best to get as much as they can out of it.
Ofcourse some just hear it 2nd hand and they're the idiots who are putting up 5-10 eggs.

Maybe its a stupid question but i started wow again after year and i wonder why is mageroyall so expensive?

It is usually a stupid question, but if you just started again...
The current event of Children's Week has an achievement to eat a bunch of "bad" foods like cupcakes and donuts in front of your orphan. One of them is a Delicious Chocolate Cake, which requires (among other things) 8 small eggs and 3 Mageroyal to make. If you can get some mageroyal, get it and sell it on the AH ASAP.
When I was leveling herbalism (prior to Wrath), mageroyal was the one herb that was never worth selling on the AH. So I think it's nice to see that Blizzard has given the herb a worthy purpose and that people are making money on it :)
also its price is still quite high at other times [not as much as now but more so than in the past] because of inscription leveling.

I think it was more accident then intent - they just wanted a bunch of treats for the achievement and decided to be sadistic and include a recipe that one can only get by doing fishing dailies, thus putting the non-tradeskillers at the mercy of us tradeskill junkies. As usual though, the raw mats end up being more expensive then the finished item - the mageroyal is 10-20, the eggs are around 1-2g each but the finished cakes are only selling for around 15g.
I sold a cake for 150g the first day the event went active :D
I was starting all of my achievements about 30 minutes after the event started and noticed that little cake sitting there. So I grabbed all the mats, farmed up the eggs and made 3 cakes, one for myself, one for my friend, and one to place on the auction house at a truly ridiculous price. Next morning I have a mail with gold in it >.>;;

The ridiculous price of Mageroyal (20g for a 3 stack) forced me to go try pick some up...I searched for 2 hours in 4 zones and never found a single node anywhere. I did manage to pick up at 20 stack for 22g later on, used my 3 and put the rest back on the AH and made 75g. The eggs for the cake are easy...the Feral Hatchlings outside Silvermoon almost have a higher than 100% drop rate. I killed 6 for my 8 eggs. I probably should have farmed some more eggs and made a few cakes and sold them for 150g each.

just a nitpick, but it's cooking-daily recipe, not fishing-daily - you mistook the cake for the lager :)
NP - thanks for clarification - been getting so many different recipe rewards on alts lately that they're all blurring together. >_<
I actually sold them for 50g a stack while leveling, and when i got higher lv i bought them 19g a stack for my inscription. So they won't always be this price. Have some patience and wait a week or so for the price to drop from undercutting
