Make sure you've got 'Find Minerals' active. You can toggle it from the general tab of your spellbook or from the icon attached to your compass map. If you have that set, it will show yellow dots on your compass map wherever there is a node (if the dot appears faded out, it means it's underground and you'd have to find the entrance to the tunnel that leads to it).

Generally speaking, you'll find the most nodes around rocky hills, but by far the best way to get the most nodes is to make sure you have Find Minerals active and check your compass map frequently as you move around.

you wont find any Copper in the starting area's to my knowledge anyway. Because you can't even get a profession until you hit a major city. I would look around the outside of major cities. Try and run around the outside of the zones, like AureliusSir said you'll find them generally on or near rocky areas. There is an Addon you can get that will map the nodes you find so you can check them at a later time to see if they've reloaded. Go to www.curse.com and download the addon "Gatherer" I beleive is the name.

there is now a boat from Aurburdine to SW, take that boat and go mine the crap out of Elwin forest.

The two starting Isles for Draenei are loaded with copper. I quested there and raised my mining along the way until copper was grey. There's as much there as in the Dwarf starting area.

Either you don't have your "Find Ore" turned on or you haven't left a road. Heck, even then you can see quite a few copper nodes on the map. Make sure you have the ore tracking turned on.

Ya, Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isle each have quite a few copper nodes throughout. It's just a matter of getting used to where you might find them. Wide open flat fields are not an ideal spot. Hills are great. The bases of cliffs are great. One of the nice things about WoW is that Blizzard didn't just drop ore nodes willy-nilly wherever the devs decided they were far enough apart. The locations you find them in make sense.

I have no problem with copper in either isle , but the Stillpine Hold has loads of copper spawn places and if you cannot find 5 stacks of copper there just by running through the caves and running around the outside in an hour then i would give up mining it is that easy there.

edited as i said gold not copper , i guess i was still half asleep when i wrote it.

At level 10-11 the Stillpine Hold will be fun but easy enough , i think the worst there is the Kurken at level 12 ? . there should be at least 3 nodes inside and at least 2-3 around the outside , i find a run through the caves and then around the outside gives enough time for the nodes to respawn , it is only the NE starting areas that have no copper at all which i have always thought weird.
