Hi, y'all - first post as a level 20 undead shadow priest (though I played FFXI for a while and have an account here from playing that game). Here's my issue.
I want to farm some small eggs, because I am a quest nut and want to make gingerbread cookies for Father Christmas. I also refuse to pay the AH gouge-price. I'm currently questing some stuff in Ogrimmar, but I can easily get back to the Undercity area. OMG these maps suck. I'm having a devil of a time getting new flight paths, getting to new areas, and figuring out where I am in space.
I cannot figure out where anything is. I can barely navigate around Horde territory, but since all the birds that drop eggs are in *Alliance* territory (thanks a LOT, devs), I'm really confused.
Can anyone point me to some links where the entire world is well-mapped? Not just chopped up into zones, but so that I can see how each zone connects to the others? And if anyone could point me to Westfall from where I am now I'd be eternally grateful. Right now I'm just so frustrated!

Can't say too much on the maps BUT what I will say is the devs actually help horde more. Go to UC and take the teleporter back to the BE starter area. Dragonhawks have a 100% drop rate of at least 1 egg per kill while the alliance have like 20% max chance at a drop :)
Thanks for the info! But I have a problem - I am a trial member until I get my disc later this week, and I can't get the portal trainer in the Undercity to deal with me. Is the teleporter something different? I found a big mechanism just outside the main entrance to the city, but it says I have to have the expansion to use it.

Portal trainers train mages how to port. There's the teleporter just inside the courtyard of Undercity (it's a big red glowy ball,) the thing is, since the blood elves and silvermoon city were released with TBC expansion, it seems that you might not be able to use it. If you can travel to thunder bluff, the swoops in the area will drop eggs, though at a lower rate. ask a mage to port you if need be.
I honestly do not know the restrictions that come with the trial version, whether or not you can travel to the blood elf area.

mapwow.com is the best map site I've found. The site has Old World and Outland maps. It will show you flight paths, town locations, and herb and ore locations.
The same site also has a map of Northrend, but it's on a different page. It doesn't have herbs and ores yet.

For the maps, you can try downloading this addon. I've found it quite useful. It's an ingame thing where it'll show all unexplored areas in a blueish color. But this way you can still see which direction you should be heading, what paths lead to where, etc.

There's a few ways you can get there. One way is by going to UC, and taking the zeppelin to Grom'Gol (Stranglethorn Vale - STV). From here, you may die quite a bit, you'd follow that north to Duskwood, then west from Duskwood until you hit Westfall. Either that or from STV, go into the water and swim all the way up to Westfall. Just make sure you're not too far out (which could cause you to die from exhaustion) or too close to the land because you'll surely aggro the higher level mobs. Good luck!

As you are on a trial account you will not be able to get to the BE area but when you upgrade your account that is where to go for eggs.
The world maps are not that bad but of course will only show you a limited view of the world , best thing i did was get Carbonite which is a quest helper and the map system used is great to figure out what level each area is and to me part of the fun is trying to get to other areas anyway.
