Why would it be nesessary to raise you skinning past 225? The only reason I can think of would be to skin high level mobs. Does anyone know if you get anything different or a higher quantity?
Have you leveled skinning at all?
You start by getting scraps of leather, then as you progress and kill higher level mobs, you begin to get Light Leather. And so on as you get Medium Leather, Heavy, Thick, etc. So if you want better leather, you should get a better skill level in Skinning.

Yea, If you Level your skinning skill as you level yourself, by level 40+ YOu should have enough to skin any beast needed.

Each step past 225 gets you closer to the high end leathers..Knothide Leather which leathermakers use for Armor kits can't be successfully skinned until after 300, those kits give +8 Stamina to Chest, Hands, Legs, and boots, btw
Plus, when in Outland Skinning is a dream...took my level from 300 to 375 in 3 days of grinding (plus all the non-skinners leaving the pickin's for us)
