Your post finally made me do it. I submitted the guide to Darqflame. Look for it in the "Guides" section in a couple of weeks.

Gratz!! You put to much time/effort into it, and it would be a waste if not.

Thanks again!

Your help with this is extremely helpful, however I have used your maps to track herbs, especially in the Outlands, however there really isn't much there to extract. You have a lot of squares indicated on the map, but for example Felweed, you stated there is only 1 herb to collect. Same thing with Dreaming Glory, only 1 herb. Is this correct?

I am not sure I understand your question. Do you mean that each herb spot would contain only 1 herb? Then I can tell you it not the case, herbs in Outland drop by the usual 1-3 per spot. I think only Ghost Mushroom (sure) and maybe Bloodvine (not sure) drop only 1 by 1.

A few things re: Outland:
- there is Blindweed in Zangar (not indicated in area list), I've never seen Bloodvine there (maybe a typo?)
- I always get the motes of life from Felweed I think, I will be more careful in checking this from now on
- Fel Blossom (which also seems to drop only from Felweed) is a lvl 60 item (I know because I couldn't use it when I found it!)
- I found 2 Fel Lotus so far and always from Felweed (but it's obvisouly not significant statistically speaking :)
- "skinning" the mobs in Zangar is a great way to find rare herbs, especially Ancient Lichen

There also random drops of Unidentified Plant parts from herbs in Zangar.

I typically have better droprates of motes off Dreaming Glory, but that could just be me as well.

Just a small point to add to a very helpful list. Fel Lotus is found with other plants rather than as a drop (at least I have found it that way and never found it as a drop)in Zangramarsh

One question. What's the the bolded shown below? "Imbue"? The link says no spells found, is this some kind of enchant-esque ability Alchemists get? Sorry if this is a noob question but I just took up Herb/Alch for my Warrior and was curious since I'd never seen this before.

Briarthorn

Component In:
Imbue Chest - Lesser Spirit

7/11/07 Removed all Imbues - these have not been in the game since early Beta.

small question: On the maps, are all white squares possible locations for a herb spawn, or is it only the ones with a yellow circle? There's not much of a legend that I can see.

The brighter the circle, the more servers that the location for the herb has been found. All the squares indicate where nodes have been found. Brightness just indicates frequency across servers.

For the Ghost Mushrooms category add Maraudon as one source area, both sides of the instance plus the caves leading to the entrances.

Lots of high level herbs can be bought from "Lhara" at the Darkmoon Faire for an unbelievable low price. Example: She sells Fel Lotuses for 90 silver each.

Cheers mates

any good place to get fel lotus? LOL. I know. I hear it's like a 3% chance on picking felweed. So far from level 60 to now, I've only gotten 2.

I want to make fortification flasks for the tanks for boss fights. But the mats are so hard to come by.

Ancient Lichen isn't easy either. As a resto shaman, it's not like I can go in underbog by myself and get them. I can maybe get one after an hour of farming bog lords. Not very good.

edit: oh I see the post above me has something on fel lotus. I never checked out darkmoon faire before. I guess I'll have to now.

Good guide and very helpful, but under Black Lotus, the link to Satchel of Cenarius is incorrect. It's same line as item above it. Just trying to make a good guide better. :)

Mike, awesome guide. I wonder if there is a chart listing at what herb level each herb can be picked. WoWhead gives something like character level, made no sense. I think each herb will tell you here, guess I might have to try Thottbot (yuck)

Darn, one more click and I found it, not as nice as yours but good raw data.Herb Guide
