purple lotus - absolutely useless?Follow

I recently skilled up herbalism and happened across a lot of purple lotus in the hinterlands. Since then it's just been sitting in my bank collecting dust, it's impossible to sell. is it absolutely useless?

Also, in people's experience what are the most profitable herbs to harvest. Obviously dreamfoil will be in that list but it's extremely hard to find with the competition on most realms.

Purple Lotus is used for Mana Oil (Enchanting), Herb Bags (Tailoring) and a variety of potions:

Elixir of Dream Vision
Dreamless Sleep Potion
Magic Resistance Potion
Wildvine Potion
Elixir of Greater Water Breathing
Lesser Mana Oil
Brilliant Mana Oil
Cenarion Herb Bag


Brilliant Mana Oil commands a price around 12g to 15g (check your own servers AH) and sells well to high-end raiders. Find an enchanter who can make it for you and you should be ready to cash in.

The Cenarion Bag may also be worth considering if you don't mind farming up the Morrowgrain as well.

Elixir of Dream Vision is highly useful for scouting. Too many people discount it as a worthless potion, but if you want to see if that rare mob is up in an instance w/o having to kill through the entire way, get w/in a two-minute walk of the spawn point, find a safe nook and pop your Dream Vision and scout it out. I also use it to check on fishing holes in Azshara. The Dream Vision eye isn't subject to the swimming slow down so you scout at run speed. You can also see some interesting things when folks don't know you're there. /wink My previous raid leader found it most useful to target pain packs in BWL. It cut down the pull time by about 15 minutes per pull when we were firt learning the instance.

of course its useful! its component in wildvine potion thats very nice! in addition while collecting purple lotuses u can encounter wildvine which is 75 silver each median price if u dont want to make wildvine potions. Magic resitance potion is also awesome if u menage to get the recipe for 20-30 gold.
