Just wondering anything about fishing you want to say....
keep the "ive been fishing for these f**king things for an hour and still only got 2" to a minimum ;)
to start off....
What do you think is better?
Walking around finding schools of fish?
or straight fishing and hoping you catch them?
time saved on walking, lost on lower catch rate...
have fun

If there's a school for the fish you want to catch, it's best to go to a zone that has lots of those schools. Like if you wanted some Sagefish -- Hillsbrad Foothills has a lot of those schools. So you'd go there, not walk around hoping to catch some.

But for a fish like Raw Nightfin Snapper. There are no schools of those, unfortunately. So I go to ponds/rivers I know have a decent catchrate and hope for the best.

Basic common sense stuff.

When I fish Tanaris, I start out in the extreme north (north of Steamwheedle port) and work my way to the extreme south (where those elite 58 sea giants hang around), and then work my way back. Lately, I only fish the schools. In general, I find enough schools and wreckage to give abou 1 1/2 stacks oily. 2 stacks firefin, 1 stack+a bit in Eels, and buches of stuff from chests. I make about 35-50G per fishing trip of this kind.

If you want to take it slower and give the pools time to respawn, you can try putting on a lure at each school/wreckage, and fish the lure out before moving on. You'll get a bit more that way, but will take a good bit more time doing it.

Although while traveling through the shores of Tanaris, I discovered that fishing the pools are a great way of ensuring that you can get entirely what you want, if what you want is Oilies and firefins.

If however what you want is eels rather, you may find whatever pools become available are few and far between (I know I have), and it may be easier to fish straight out of the ocean in a "good" spot to get those stonescales.

The trick is in actually finding these good spots, and what's good at one time durring the day may or may not be considered a good spot (or at least as good a spot) as before. Your best bet in finding the best spots are to level your skill to the cap and outfit yourself with some fishing items that provide nice bonuses, not to mention lures, and head out to the highest level zones that have fishable areas.

A few okay spots are ofcourse Tanaris, Feralis, STV, but for really great spots i would suggest traveling to areas such as the Hinterlands and Azshara, then travel to those areas where the monsters are remarkably dangerous, and cast your line.
