This question has probably been asked about prviously, however i couldn't find it in the first two pages. My question is, while I am still gathering ores and herbs, how much should I collect of all the varieties of ores and herbs before I want to switch to Engineering and Alchemy.

In otherwords, right now I'm mining/skinning and gathering at the 150/180 skill lvl for both. Eventually I want to swap mining for herbalism and start gathering herbs.

I want to know how many ores I need to collect toatal in order to fully level engineering, and how many herbs I need to collect in order to fully level alchemy. I want to avoid spending any unnecesary money on the AH, so all mats for the two proffesions need to come from drops.

I need to know how many of each mat ranging from the lowest grade material (example: copper) to the highest grade material (example: thorium) that I would need to effectively level up.

The skinning is there just because I know I'll need varrying ammounts of leather to skill up engineering, and I didn't want to have to buy any at the AH, plus since I'm lvl 50, I thought I could sell the extra leathers on the AH for my mount.

I also have Fishing at arisan lvl (possibly maxed out at 300, cant remember that though).

Thanks in advance for your help.

I actually mannaged to do a bit more searching and stumbled upon a guide that gives the rundown of what items to focus on for the engineering grind to 300. For those of you who may be curious, I'll paste the info below.

I still need to find something similar for alchemy. If anyone knows where to find a grinding guide for alchemy, please let me know. I'll look around further on my next break (since I'm currently at work and have limited time to complete my searches).

I also need to look at this list and produce my shoping list from that. Once I have a diffinitive list of all the mats needed for grinding engineering, I'll post that also for those of you who need to level engineering too.

From the O-boards on herbalism

I should also mention that I powerleveled my alchemy in a day (already being 300 herb) when I dropped skinning after buying my epic mount and getting my darkmoon neck. It is pretty easy, definitely can be done in a few hours if you have the gold (and not much gold is really required compared to say enchanting or engineering. Those last few levels don't totally suck b/c you're making healing pots and such (not spamming wts enchants). Overall a very usefull profession (and the only crafting profession besides engineering that I will ever take up again after trying them all).

for the little bit of leather you will need on levelling up by creating certain items, it's probably better just to buy it rather than have a skill specifically for that reason.

it won't be more than 5g probably to buy a few stacks of this or that leather for the few recipes you'll use them for.
