Skinning, Herbing,or both?Follow

#1 Oct 04 2006 at 5:57 AM Rating: Decent
Recently I've been on an endless strugle for cash. I'm currently a 300 alchemist and a low level enchanter (purely to disenchant things). With that, I have a few very viable possible solutions.

1. Keep both of my current professions and make the money by selling enchanting supplies and buying cheap herbs for some pots.

2. Drop enchanting and replace it with herbalism. I've leveled it before so that is nothing new. It's easy enought to get, but will it bring a good flow of profit?

3. Drop enchanting and replace it with skinning. Again, I've leveled it before so that shouldn't be difficult, but is it a good money-maker.

4. Drop both alchemy and enchanting for two gathering professions. The only thing I dislike about that idea is the fact that I've invested a lot into alchemy.

I'm just looking for some extra opinions before I end up trying them all, which would be an even greater waste of money.

What I would do is drop enchanting and get herbalism.
Then, if you don't have one already, create a low-level alt, get them to level 5, get the alt to learn enchanting then park it in a capital near the bank and AH. the Alt can dienchant everything, except soulbound stuff, for you while your main can harvest high-level herbs that can bring in the money.

I won't recommend any directly, but I have a link in my sig that suggests a few moneymaking tips.

If you already have alchemy and enjoy it, i would drop enchanting and take up herbilism.

But honestly its up to you. Its your character do with it as you like!

I agree with the advice of dropping enchanting and making an alt to DE, and then taking herbalism. If you've been buying herbs to get your alchemy to 300, I can understand why you're short on cash. From your sig it looks like your main is a level 60 druid, so you should be able to make some good cash once your herb skill gets high enough. To say nothing of being able to make higher-level potions without having to buy the herbs.

I'm starting to think about the hebralism and DE alt idea is worthwhile. It would be a shame to lose my alchemy 'cause I have a few flask recipies already (unfortunately no titans).

I'm going to have to agree with all the others here. Drop enchanting, make a level 5 DE alt, and pick up herbalism on your main. Generally high end herbs sell well, as long as they are used in end game potions. The nice thing is, you'll be able to supply all your pots, which will save you some scratch. Herb prices generally make herbalism one of the best money makers at level 60. There will always be a demand for herbs, as end game guilds on every server consume mass amounts of them every raid.
