Will jewelcrafting use existing gems, or new ones?Follow

The link from the launcher a few weeks ago was a little vague. It said that the gems would be gained from mining, but I couln't tell if they would be the same ones you get from mining now, or different ones that 'drop' more frequently. Just want to know if I should get a few stacks of malachite, shadowgems, etc. while they're cheap to power through the low levels.
