Yes, I've read the sticky, but I want something more in-depth for each class, not for each trade skill.

Most items made in tradeskills can be bought in the auction house, with the exception of some 300 gear for the armor/weapon crafters, and some engineering gadgets.

So what I want to know is...which classes really get an actual benefit from which trade skills. Meaning...lets say...what can my class gain by taking X that it could not gain in any other way? Thinking along those lines, what tradeskills are really useful for each classes?

Big question mate.

Alchemy
Blacksmithing
Enchanting
Engineering
Leatherworking
Tailoring

Herbalism
Mining
Skinning

Cooking
First Aid
Fishing

And nine classes. Which combination is most useful?

There are no definitive answers but I can give you some opinions.

Hunters - In my experience Hunters can get a lot of benefit from engineering.
Two examples would be Jumper Cables + FD to try and avoid a wipe, and explosives to cover the dead zone. Explosives can also be a useful pulling tool for Paladins.

Rogues can be both good at and derive benefit herbalism. They can stealth in, distract, gather herb and sprint out. Swiftthistle and Fadeleaf both being vital to your average rogue.

I'm sure some more people can help you with their opinions, like I said it is a big question

I think every class can benefit from every Profession in some way.

It virtually comes down to what the player wants on the Character they play...

When you pick a new character, id suggest looking down every avenue for professions, If your going to be a Blade wielding Caster or melee, you might want to take Mining/Blacksmithing, to make your own weapons or armour, dependent on class.

You may want Bombs.. incase your mana runs out, or just for pulling, then again, having the ability to have a chance of rezzing somebody would be good in an instance, so you might want to pick Mining/Engineering

Everyone will, at some point, be needing Potions, whether its health/mana/resistance, every class benefits from atleast one type of potion, at some point.

Every class can also benefit from being a Tailor, well, you can make bags, ofcourse.

Leatherworking can benefit any class except possibly Cloth wearers and Paladins, for a Warrior you could use it to make Ammo pouches, and later on Mail armour (only if your insane and dont want more armour from plate, which is dumb). And then for a hunter/shaman/rogue/druid you could make your own armour

Actually, I'm not sure if i'm reading the replies wrong, or if I wrote something wrong, but...what I was asking is not which classes gain benefit from which tradeskills. It's what can each class gain that they could NOT gain by not taking the skills and just using the auction house.

For instance...yea...tailors make bags. But who cares? You can buy all the bags in the game on AH, almost none of them are BoP, and none of the tailor made ones are. The only thing a tailor gets that you cannot get any other way is a couple pieces of 300 tailor required armor.

It's those things i'm talking about, things that are unique to ONLY that trade profession. It's things like that that I want to know what really make each trade good for each class. For instance Leatherworking...I see a ton of hunter leatherworkers, but why? The 300 leatherworking required armors are not that good for hunters, so why would a hunter bother with leatherworking? Anything else made from leatherworking could simply be bought on the AH.

That's what I want to know. For each class, the best sets of tradeskills based on things you cannot get simply from the AH. Otherwise, you may as well just take herbalism/skinning. What classes, basicaly, can benefit off of each tradeskills unique items the most? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

I don't think you'll find many crafted items that will be better than any end game pieces you'll find.

But, for example, only a Mage tailor can wear Robe of the Archmage, only a Warlock tailor can wear Robe of the Void, and a Priest tailor the Truefaith Vestments. These are Epic Bind on Pickup so the tailor cannot trade or sell the item to another player, and you could argue very few endgame chest pieces would replace it. If anything replaced it, it would be another Epic quality piece from a raiding instance.

Those are just a couple examples I could think of off the top of my head.

Yea, that's the sort of thing I'm trying to find out :) Which crafts are actually worth it for which classes. The ones you said pretty much make tailoring worth it for the mages, especialy if they don't like to do endless hours of repeating the same raid for the small chance of getting a piece of their armor.

At the moment, my hunter is doing Herbalism/Skinning simply because I can't figure out if any of the tradeskills are really worth leveling to 300, for a hunter anyway. Most of it doesn't seem to be worth it, except maybe engineering (some fun toys in there). And even then, you don't really need mining...the amount of money you get from herbalism easily offsets the amount you would spend on ore/bars, since they seem to actually get cheaper as you go to end-game, whereas herbalism gets more expensive.

well every class could benefit from herb/ alchemy for the cheap pots. i went the herb main, alchemy alt route.

engineering is good for hunters because you can make your own bullets, guns, and scopes. and the jumper cables can save some time after a wipe.

herbs is good for rogues since they can farm thier own fadeleaf and swiftthistle, and not rely on the ah.

Druids benefit from enchanting for several reasons. My druid was my 1st guy and I went skin/lw, cause I was a newb. Then I got a recipe for smoking heart of the mountain, and realized that it would give me almost 600 armor in the trinket slot, and +7 to all my resists.
I kept lw out of stubborness, but dropped skinning just to make that item.
Druids benefit from the increased ability to customize gear, as we need a lot of different stats on different items to suit current role.
Also, being able to stealth to instance bosses to farm crystals makes the whole process that much easier.

Never rolled a hunter, but i agree with the bit about the jumper cables. I've seen both rogues and hunters advertise in lfg that they're packing these to set themselves apart from all the other hunters and rogues looking.

basically twinks from all classes will benefit from engineering, especially gnomes who have the + racial ability that allows them to go beyond the level cap. since nearly everything that engineers make can only be used my engineers and have a engineering level requirement you can only get them by taking up and leveling the profession and you can get really good stuff at low levels.
