Or dragonscale in general.. I get black dragonscale mostly in U/LBRS - But there is generally a couple other skinners and it sucks trying to compete with them for skinning.
I went to the burning stepps today and started killing / skinning dragonkin there today. Level 58 Hunter with a level 55 bear it still was not that pleasent trying to kill elite dragonkin. I had a warrior friend come out and help for a bit, but I did not get a single dragonscale drop over about 30mins.
I was wondering if there is a particularly good place to farm black dragonscale that I can go alone? I have a ton of worn and green dragonscale from killing mobs in Duskwallow marsh and the Swamp of Sorrows. Any pointers appreciated.

Hiya, wish I could help ya, but just learned about the 3 skills, Dragonscale, Elemental, and Tribal, am trying to find out which is best, sounds like maybe Dragonscale is pretty hard to do, but That's the reason the items bring so much cash. Hmmm, well good luck to you.

Unfortunaly you know it, and it is UBRS, but you were close(Kind of) with burning stepps, the whelplooking things can dorp the wanted scales too i belive they are called broodlings, but the drop rate is horrid on them. Good luck, Dragonscale LW is rough for just this issue.
at 55-60 you can kill some of the elite in burning steppes for their scales.
another good spot for some green and worn, maybe a few red/black, is sunken temple. especially if you join groups that are just doing the dragons parts, you wont be in there too long.
since that is a 5-man only, chances are you'll be the only skinner, or at least sharing will be more reasonable.
i did get a lot from ubrs, that was also mainly because i had to do ubrs a lot for the drops i wanted. once i got them, i havne't gone there just for scales.

Thanks for the feedback. I was doing some quests in The Burning steps today killing various dragonkin for one of the quests. Out of all the kills, I got 1 black dragonscale and 1 worn dragonscale... Really crappy droprate.
I had a higher droprate in the southern parts of the Swamp of Sorrows for worn dragonscale, so I'll get those there, sell em and buy black if I need to.. Hopefully I can get the folks in my guild organized and start doing some more UBRS runs.
I need to get skinning above 300, last time we went no one could skin the higher level mobs, so I could at least gain an advantage there. I know about Finkle's Skinner - but what can I do in the mean time to get my skinning to 305 or 310 before then?

There is a way to get to 305 or even 315 without Finkle's Skinning Knife. For 305 skinning, just get the glove enchant that gives +5 to skinning. Little known fact is that you can also run ZG and there is a sword that drops there that also adds +10 to skinning.

Yeah I figured there was a enchant - haven't looked into it yet. But the sword - I'm going to have to see what I can find there. Thanks for the info

Got a guild mate to enchant me some gloves which put me at 305 skinning today and went on a UBRS run. Couple other skinners in a 10man raid, but they were being civil and not ninja'ing every corpse. So the the enhanced gloves were'nt really that needed.
Well we fought the Beast and FINKLE'S skinner dropped!!!!! I rolled an 80 and someone else rolled an 89............... Man i was disapointed till he said he already had one. He was just messing with me! So I got it!!!! man i was so damn excited.
That's it, thanks for all the feedback, I'm well on my way now - 315 skinning.

well i went there with a friend of mine (burning steppes)
he is a skinner just as probably everyone else(he got the tip to go grind there from a hunter) but on 2 hours grinding(you really need to be 60 its a lot easier) he had somewhere between 5-10 black dragonscales he is using them to sell and grind more money :P but i think if you would go there for dragonscales its the best place :) just kill everything you see ;-) the mages and warrs drop them the most :) groups of 5 but you should be able to pull them 1 by 1

We generally farm burning steppes for black dragon scales (rogue + shaman or hunter depending on who's online). With a duo the dragonkin are pretty fast kills. We get 10-15 black scales per hour (plus large amounts of rugged leather). I skin @ 325 (glove enchant, finkle's, zulian slicer). It *seems* higher skinning produces better drop rates, but that could just be perception instead of fact.
