Trade Skill Materials CalculatorFollow

#1 Aug 03 2005 at 9:34 PM Rating: Decent
I've created a materials calculator for the trade skills in WoW using PHP and mySQL. Right now I've only added Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Mining and a bit of Engineering. I have ironed out most of the few bugs I've noticed while adding and viewing the recipes.

You can view the calculator at http://www.gamingparadox.com/matscalc/ It's fairly simple to use as all you do is select your trade skill and the recipe and enter the number of items you wish to produce. The trade skill and recipes now automatically change and you should only have to hit "Calculate!" when you change the number of items to produce.

If you notice any bugs or spelling/number mistakes or if you would like to help enter recipes into the database you can reach me at webmaster@gamingparadox.com or Thrane on Uther.

Neat idea -- but the price of materials on my server is often different from that on other servers, and can vary a lot depending on the average level on the server (and thus what materials are available).

I have an Excel spreadsheet I'm working on that does the same thing, sorta -- prices are hard to automate, though!

Very cool tool!!!

yeah, i use excel too. it's great for this sorta thing cuz u can just plug in prices and everything recalculates. That's how i made this list of low cost items to skill:

It might be really helpful if there were a place to input the current prices for the items on your calculator as well as an initial set of default prices.

#4REDACTED, Posted: Aug 17 2011 at 2:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Went here today to try to find some sort of materials calculator. The link above appears to be bad. I really don't care about pricing as much as I am trying to find a way to generate an accurate shopping list. I wish this was still an active link.

It probably wouldn't be very useful, what with not having any items added in the last SIX YEARS and all...

Although this is a necropost of a 6 year old thread...if you want a shopping list of mats needed to craft something, check out an addon like Skillt or Advanced Tradeskill Master. Or...get a pen and piece of paper.

Oh, if you're going to be helpful, I'll chip in a +1 for Trade Skill Master.

If you really want to do things offline, google "wow profession spreadsheet" and there are a couple that were updated through WotLK, and what looks like a useful guide on how to create/update for yourself. I won't provide links since some of the sites don't seem very choosy about who advertises there...

If there exists an up-to-date free-to-public spreadsheet, you can probably find it at the Consortium Forums.

Trade Skill Master is awesome, but not as straightforward as the two I mentioned. It's helped me make 200k gold in the last 30 days though, so I'll give it a thumbs up too!
