I have reached 85 in mining at I am wondering how to get from 85 to 125 where the iron starts. Do I keep mining tin and copper ? The silver deposits seem very rare as far as I can see. If I need to mine silver to advance , where are the best places for silver?

The best place ive found to find tin and slver is the spider cave near the entrance to the wetlands (from the loch). This cave also had incendite ore veina which is used in a quest but can be mined without the quest and sold at the AH to non miners. Using the incendite ore vein and tin veins i like you got my level from 85 to about 100 in one trip to the cave.
Also note Silver veins are rare spawns and replace tin veins when they appear, this is also the same with gold deposits coming from iron deposits

Been ages since I was 8x in mining, but the smelting of copper/tin to bronze should be available and give a few points..... plz correct me if Im wrong

Yes Shootwabbits is right from what i remember of myself around lvl 85 (im currently 143), smelting certian things should get your skill up, i think at lvl 85 smelting bronze may be the only way to gain level trough smelting, and i know that smelting silver for the first time definately gains you a level.

But ofcoz lvl from mining give tons of ore, but also takes a long time to reach the Iron lvl in mining. So up to you what you want. If you're a smithy then you shout mine your way to iron so blacksmithing goes up too from crafting. If you're an engineer or something else, then its not that important.

Thanks guys. That's the info I needed.
If you want to find silver i have got lucky and foud about 3-4 vains in Loch Modan. That is where i would try first but just what the other guy said they come back where tin have been.
