Hey i gota low lvl Hunter only 17 :P
I use fishing just to get fish to feed my pet, is there any other use for it?
cause i could use the cash

firefin snapper, oily blackmouth and stonescale eel are all used for alchemy. So you can sell them for decent money sometimes.
Some high level fish are also good for cooks to make some nice buff food. So you may be able to sell those to cooks.

i have 2 words. deviate fish. if you havent eaten them yet let me fill you in: when eaten they transfrom your character. if that isnt reason enough to fish then i dont imagine you should fish.

Yup Deviate Fish rock, I am still looking for the mob that drops the scroll for learning to cook em(reducing the negetive Buff possibility) Alchemest use those too.. for the giant groth potions(and they are cool because they make ya grow). Heck Pet food should be enuff of a reason to stikc with fishing but,clams, they sometiems drop pearls lots of folks want them. you can also use fishing to level your cooking so eventualy you can make the grilled squid and that bugger gives a +10 agil buff, while that is not the end all be all of the game, you did pull it out of the water. I have pulled up meny a scroll out of the water as well as lockboxes, Schematic: Spellpower Goggles Xtreme was the best find to date. For me most of all it is something to do while I wait for folks.
Recipie: Savory Deviate Delight seems to mostly drop from mobs in The Barrens. The good thing is that's also where Deviate Fish can be fished up. I hope that helps.

By the Gods, please tell me that feeding the deviates to pets will affect them as well. I'd love for my cat to turn into a ninja!!

Most likely the effects will not apply to pets. For example, if you feed the pet something that has the "Well Fed" effect attached to it, the pet will not receive the buff... At least mine never did.

Good answers, all, but not much usefullness. Yes, fishing is a very usefull skill. You can pull up items used by many of the other tradeskills. You can keep your pet full. You can cook and sell fish for spare change. You can keep yourself full. But heres the best part. Have you looked at this yet?
Look at all those items you can pull up! Some of the rare blueprints are much much safer to pull out of the water than to take on 58 elites to get! Especially for a hunter, when you have some protection while fishing in unsafe areas. Take a look on that list of some of the blueprints, and where they can be pulled from. Now, go to the AH and check prices!

Ok, i've got a problem with fishing right now... Where's the best place to work on fishing past 150 skill? I've tried BB and Camp Mojache but I can barely get 2-3 skillups every 10 minutes. Is that normal or should i try something else? Thanks a lot.

I suggest trying Booty Bay. I'm not sure where the start of the leveling is yet, but if you can't fish there to start off with, try getting a fishing lure. I think that's gonna be your best bet. Or any other higher level zones.

Ok This is the Skinny,fishing isnt like the other skills, you can fish form 1-300 in darkshore, or ratchet realy you can level anyplace, the deal is it just gets slow, as you level it up you will see that eventualy you only get a skill add every 10-15 you catch, and the number isnt much better any place you go, the trick is to put bait on your rod and catch volume of fish, just keep at it, sell your firefind and oily blackmouth, feed youself or pet with the others, it just takes time and lots of it.

Booty Bay is 125 skill to start off. I always use the +75 or the +100 skill bait. Camp Mojache is higher skill and even with the high bait i still lose a lot of fish. Oh well, guess it's time to grind some just like i did with skinning hehe.
