Mining Question :: World of Warcraft

My mining skill is currently 139. I'm not high enough to learn smelt gold yet, but all my smelting skills are greyed out. Do I raise my skill only by mining now? Kind of a n00b question I know, but I'm just confused about this. Thanks in advance for replies

Yes. Once the smelting is grayed out, you will only be able to increase mining skill by mining the ore.

Yes, you'll be able to raise your mining skill by mining both Tin and Iron until you hit 155. Then you can learn Gold. I know my mining is at 176 and Iron is still giving me a point everytime I mine.

Is there a chart or guide that gives the levels for mining, for example, copper is 1 - 125 or whatever it is?
