Hey gang, for those of you who know me, I was Chastity on the server, a cute taru girl. Anyway, after playing WoW for a year, I got bored. I just quit this month and found out that a friend of mine quit as well. I am debating whether or not to come back to XI, mainly because I haven't really found a game that I would be interested in and I still see some people playing that I know. I would no doubt start at level 1 because I don't think that my account can be salvaged, or it may, not sure at this point? What do you all think?

It depends if you kept your playonline account or not. Your playonline account is free, and if you keep it, you can restore all of your content ID's (with the characters you had). Not sure of how long though. I've heard people saying that SE can only hold your character info for 3 months, and anything after that, it'll get deleted. But I've also read people talking about on the FFXI Main about how they've had the game canceled for over a year, but then when they restored their ID's, their characters were still there.
So if you still have your playonline account, login it and see if you can restore your content ID's. If you can, you can get your old character back. If you can't, then I guess you'll just have to start over unfortunately.

A friend of mine just came back after a 2 year layoff and was able to recover his character, so it's worth looking into. I'm not sure if he maintained his POL account or anything like the above poster said. You can probably just give them a call and see what you would have to do. Good luck
