I posted this in general forum, but the only response i got was that you can not compare the two....i want to know Titan's thoughts.

Blizzard has set a date for WoW – Nov. 22nd.

My question is this:
General consensus
Pro’s and Con’s
How many people are looking to put FFXI down for a while for WoW

To start it off:
One pro for FFXI – everything is a deeper involvement (i.e. crafting, questing, and xp’ing)
One pro for WoW – a faster pace. It doesn’t require as much time to accomplish things (i.e. questing, xp’ing)
One con for FFXI – you have to rest to gain hp & mp.
One con for WoW – There is no sub jobs.

Everyone share your thoughts please.

WoW = PC Only

That's all I need to know since I refuse to spend hours on the PC at home, after I use one all day at work ^^

in my opinion. WoW is too dumbed down. my 2 year old can play that game and be successful. it's just sad.

Well I'm a Ps2 user as well, so its not really an option..

but I can say this... these MMORPG's take alot of time and effort

I jump games alot for my xbox and ps2 because they are short in time frame or I can go back and forth..

but I couldn't see my self jumping back and forth between these MMORPG's... just to much to know and to much skill required with each of them..

I'll try the open beta most likely, but no boxy looking orc, can pull me away from the familiar Orcish Neckchopper's of this game.

I'm too big a FF fan to leave for WoW.

Well, I already have my copy of Wow reserved. Mostly because FF was my first MMORPG so I'm just curious to get my hands on another to compare. Just from the things I've read though I think I'm gonna be very disappointed. Following Conluceo's form of comparing here's a couple of pros and cons I have in my mind:

Pro - No more spending an hour and a half looking for/putting together a pty only to kill three mobs and have someone to say, "Sry I have to go." >.<

Pro - No more countless hours spent farming, fishing, crafting, etc. to get enough gil to just support my job. Evidently equip. is supposed to be quite a bit easier to come by in WoW.

Pro - It's Blizzard ^.^ Need I say more?

Con - In my mind, the graphics in WoW are really kinda poor compared to FF. Don't get me wrong, I definatly believe that gameplay overrides graphics anyday (I still love to go back and play the original Legend of Zelda occasionally may not be the prettiest game out there but it's still **** fun). However, as much time as you spend on MMORPG's having it be nice to look at makes it a little more soothing.

Con - One character one job. When you create your character you pick your job and that's it. Hope ya like it >.<

Con - Only certain jobs for certain races. Bleh is all I can say about that.

Ok, enough WoW bashing. I think it's obvious that some of my pros and cons can be reversed to be applied to FF so I'll try not to repeat myself :p

Pro - I've been playing FF since the original, so it's fun to see all these mobs and stuff in this form. I went back and played the original again and it was hard to not sit there and imagine the battles playing out like the do in FFXI. I guess I'm just trying to say that there's more of a history to FF than WoW.

Pro - I know this goes against what I said earlier but FF does force you to interact with others. While the finding of pty's does suck I know I never would have met some of the great ppl I have were it not for being forced into it. I just sometimes wish that the ability to solo or play in a pty of 3 or 4 was available.

Con - The economy in this game is horrible. I don't think I need to explain this one to anyone who plays this game XD

Con - The imbalance between PCs and mobs is ridiculous. Mob spells have greater range, they can hit (melee attacks) you from much further out than you can hit them. One thing that bothers me more than any other is the fact that they aren't subject to environmental restictions, meaning that if I stand on top of a cliff and cast on a mob it can just pop up the side of the cliff and attack me. Total BS in my opinion seeing as how the reverse isn't even close to true.

Well there's just a few, I want to leave something for others to say XD I am very interested to see what others have to say as well.

After trying out the ST, I've been waiting patiently to quit FFXI as soon Open Beta or when the Actual game is released.

This is all IMO:

FFXI Pro: Fun to party with good friends and good players.
WoW Pro: No need for a perfect PT, much more chance to explore(adventure), less exp grind. Quest are actually give out nice rewards.

FFXI Con: too much exp grind, not enough quest, etc. that are rewarding or fun. Sucks up way too much of my time.
WoW Con: lvling seems a bit too fast but you never know.

I'll always be a big fan of SE and FF series, but it's time for me to switch to something I think is much more fun for me without having to invest some much time into.

I really don't know much, or anything, about WoW but I did try to leave FFXI for another game over the past few months (an upcoming Sony MMORPG sequal). I figured hey, this is a way to get in on the ground floor, learn everything I can while the game is in beta. Beat all of the others on how to guild and how/where to level, what to camp, etc, etc, etc. And the whole time I just kept thinking to myself. THIS ISN'T FFXI.

So I came back. Thank you Sony, but no thank you.

And that is my biggest concern...spending the money to get WoW plus dedicating the time to learn the controls and basic environments....settling into the game, and all the while thinking that I should be playing FFXI. Which leads me back to where I am right I accept this and not even bother spending the money (which is defiantly a good thing, not spending money) or do I make the change to another pasture where the grass may not be greener but it is a different pasture where I can graze amongst all the other young players.
