Well, when SE first announced CoP, most people were pretty happy. I was not. Why you may ask? Well for 2 main reasons.

#1 - My PS2 refuses to read 95% of the discs I put in it. I knew I was gonna have trouble installing it.

#2 - I play on PS2 & PC (Dont ask) and I didn't wanna pay $30 each to play an expansion, which isn't that much more then an update.

So finally the day came when CoP was released. My friend (IRL) got it for PS2, and I bought it for PC. He installed it on his PS2 and used his registration code. I planned to use his disc to install it on my PS2 and use my PC registration code, then use my PC disc to install it on my PC (I'm tricky, eh?).

I put the disc in, and it refuses to read it. He told me how some people open their PS2 up to clean it. I decided my PS2 is already messed up enough, why not open it up. So we start to take it apart. After clearing out the dust, we find that we don't have a small enough scrwedriver (I'm talking tiny) to get to the lense. We put the PS2 back together w/o cleaning the lense. I'm praying that it will just turn on at this point. I plug it in, and the light goes on. Well at least it works, but when I tried to install CoP i still got the disc read error.

So a few days role by, and I find a miny screwdriver. I take my PS2 apart as I had done prior, and then I get to the part where the miny screwdriver is necessary. I take extra caution in this step, because the screws are tiny. I take out the 2, and much to my dismay the PS2 lense cover thing won't come off. I start to pull it, but realize I will likely break it. I get disappointed again. Then I notice there's one more screw I forgot to undo, and then I notice the second one. I unscrew these, and presto! I see the lense. I look at it, and it looks clean as a whistle. This isn't a good sign, because I was hoping it was dirty, which was preventing it from reading the discs. I take my Q-tip (not used in my ear BTW) and rub it in rubbing alchol. I then rub it on the lense and dry the lense off.

I reassemble my PS2, this even less confident in my abilities to fix stuff. Light goes on. That's the first good sign. I enter Playonline, and click install. I put the disc in. then I wait. Then I see it say: Install Chains of Promethia.

"I am the god of hellfire."

It installed!!! Ok well anyway I didn't know where to put this. I'm just excited that I fixed something myself, and I got CoP.

Thanks for reading

i did this EXACT same thing about 3 days ago. my ps2 wasnt reading discs, so i dug in there and was able to fix it by doing some things i read online. i'm not very good at fixing those things either, so i was pretty proud :)
