If you have roughly 10 hrs a week to play FF 11, is it even worth it?

Depends on what you want to do. For orginized events:

Dynamis = 3-4 hours 2x a week
Limbus = .5-1 hours 2x a week
Assaults/Nyzul = 5 hours a week
ZNM = Varies
Salvage = Varies

It is quite possible to do a number of things with only 10 hours a week.

Hmmmmm. Well I've been pondering a return to FF XI, but im not sure if it's even worth it. I played FF from release on Sylph for about 2 years then WoW until 2007. Been mmo inactive since then. Played FF mostly thru my college years.

My main concern is that my character (taru named Alexio) is most definitely gone. I was only able to reach 48 BLM and 45 DRK and the rest where sub jobs all in the 30s and 20s. The one thing that I would reqret loosing the most was attaining lvl 72 fishing (bulk of the time there) on top of lvl 40sh in cooking :P. This alone was the source of my income.

I'm not sure its even worth restarting seeing that I'm in a relationship and I fear that the huge timesink issues are still there (ie- looking for party, traveling, farming, etc).

The kid in me always seems to call me back. Im starting to think my mmo days may be over for good :(.

You can play pretty comfortably on 10 hrs a week nowadays thanks to the casual patches they dropped in.

Don't expect to do anything really cool once you're 75 though.
You need to be willing to drop a lot of time if you want to do HNMs or any kind of instanced event(s).

Also, see if you qualify for the "Return Home to Vanadiel" campaign.
I've heard of people who quit the first year coming back with it.

If you enjoy the game. Any time spent is worth it!

While 10 hours a week may not be enough time for endgame activities, it's enough to do other casual things. Endgame activities, contrary to popular belief, are far from the only things in game to do. You can do other small activities ranging from chocobo racing, chobobo raising, crafting, fields of valor, obtain and level an adventuring fellow, Moblin Maze Mongers, simply explore new areas, and much more. You could even try out roleplaying to see if it interests you seeing as roleplayers are in some cases casual players themselves with even less than 10 hours a week to play the game (see my sig for RPing details). If the game interests you, you'll find something to do in your short amount of time no matter what. You may not be able to obtain the greatest gear and whatnot with so little time but there are numerous other "accomplishments" one can achieve outside of just obtaining said gear.

I play maybe 10 hours per week, and it's fine. I'm able to do "endgame" stuff as my LS (while primarily social) does a bit of that on occasion. I don't do anything such as Dynamis or Salvage as the time spent is not worth it. It depends what you want to do as to if you should come back. If you're looking for a social experience where you're not tied to anything, then 10 hours is perfect for that. On the other hand, if you're looking to get into the waste of life (endgame), then stay away.

Ultimately, if you'd be starting over I think you'd have a decent amount of fun. The Fields of Valor option is great, and the starter quest is another fun thing to do.

I guess the first thing i need to do is see if my character is still around. I never deleted him but my account has been inactive since mid 2006. I'll call them as soon as my new laptop arrives next week :).
