I signed up on Shiva in February 2004 and last logged out from my first account April 2005. Back in 2007 I created a new account and played for a bit, but didn't really get anywhere. When I moved from where I was, I ended up finding my first account's info and thus, I'm back again. I have a 58 Rdm/blm named Curtainclimber. Anyone have a linkshell that feels like adopting a prodigal caster?

Also, what's new? I saw something about Level Sync, which sounds like it'll make getting parties together much easier. I read that your equipment scales down when synced down, so you don't get forced to unequip it. Does this hold true with burning circle encounters too, like the mission dragon fights? I'll be escorting a friend or two through, so it'd be nice not to have to clear out my inventory for entire alternate sets of armor.

Otherwise, tell me about the joys and horrors introduced to XI over the past few years, what I can look forward to with enthusiasm or fear, and whether gathering enough gil together for basic equipment upgrades while leveling is still an almost hopeless endeavor.
