Not at all. What probably happened is they had been waiting for a long time for a RDM or WHM job. When they finally get one, you don't want to join. I wouldn't take it personally. You were not wrong to say <lets keep our levels close>. That's your choice, after all you're suffering an xp loss.

However that being said, is it not acceptable at lvl 60+ to have lvl gaps of 3-4 due to lack of players at times?

As far as the /blist goes. That was just plain childish and immature. It's a way insecure people feel better about a situation by getting the last word in.

Please feel free to agree or disagree, this is my opinion.

Mills...I wasn't really there long enough to make an opinon of him.

Tamora was a know it all to me as well. She left our party for a trivial reason that I don't even recall. This was in Kazham, and she kept flaunting how she had a higher lvl job.

I'm always invited to a pt where I'm a lvl too low and suffer.. I HATE it. Especialy when it's that lvl block where one person is a lvl higher and all the mobs drop from IT to vt or T and they won't leave so now after chain #4 130exp... No thanks.

I've pt'd with mills before as well, good player has a high drk and nin jobs but kinda stuck up too.

The level gap is very over-stated.

Just for fun a buddy invited me to PT with his LS, and we were 14-14-15-18-18-19 and somehow (I seriously do not know how it worked) we were able to chain mobs IT to the 19 and still have everyone get at least 150+ exp on a standard, non-chain fight.

Okay, I need to preface this by saying I'm biased, and I'm in Pen's linkshell, and that I'm one of the ones that was talking to him about the level difference issues initially.

The problem doesn't just lie in the fact that he'd be getting a bit less xp though. At a 4 level gap, he'd also be useful for nothing more as a refresh bot, and occasional healing. The rest of his abilities would have been nearly worthless for lack of ability to land debuffs or nukes for magic bursts, due to being that much lower level than the group.

Personally, I'd never accept an invite in his shoes with that gap, because I'd feel like a leech. Because I wouldn't be able to perform at the top of my ability. I've seen too many people who try to get by on their bare minimum of ability or equipment, but Pen isn't like that. I know this from experience with him, and a gap like that, would have driven me personally insane.

The level gap at low levels may not mean much (not discussing the lower xp issue here), but at higher levels, your weakness to the mob really shows up.

In low levels as a pld it seemed I was always the lowest level, typically by 3. Even then, trying to tank things a few levels higher than normal was a bit difficult, but a if I were to try to tank a mob now at 50, that is being xp'd off by level 53's, I'd get owned. Your talking 25-60 a hit verse 60-120 a hit on standard hits...lets not mention the crits...

Hey look at it this way,.... you are a rdm and in high levels you dont realy need to worry much about lfg... lol.... screw them and the horse they are up on... that is why we are able to level with who we want or when we want to.... If they want to blacklist them ... send them a /tell back in case they didnt yet blist to hear a response... (thank you)

They may have done you a favor... lol! I dont like leveling with over a 2 gap difference... hate gets messed up and the xp loss isnt worth the food at times to level 1 level. But when you have no choice then you have no choice.

I used to be in the same LS as Mills and Tamora, and yes they are a bunch of elitist pricks. My friend sat in jeuno for 5 hours one day LFG, found a party, 20 minutes later the LS wanted his help for something. He said no, so Mills kicked my friend and me out of the LS. Possibly one of the best things to ever happen to me in that game, in a much better (friendly non-elitist prick) LS now.

I'm sorry if you do not understand the way the xp chart works. While I never cared to be the lowest level it honestly does not make a difference. You lose like 10 xp per kill or so when there is a certain level gap. It takes a long time and lot of xp to level past 61 30k+ every level. I have been in plenty of PTs where I am like 4 or 5 levels under after 60, as the main healer and the refresh bot. It gets old but hell there is not much you can do about it with the limited amount of people that stick with a job past 60. After 65 at least 60 some odd percent start a new job so there is less to work with, sometimes PT leaders tend to get desperate.

I have never had trouble landing my enfeebles as long as I was within 3 levels of the highest player. So you will not be by default the "refresh bot" When you are sitting there seeking all day long and the only PT invite you can get is one where a few people are a level or two higher than you like are you going to pass? Are you really going to sit there for the next 5 hours and pray that someone makes a PT? At 65+ it gets harder and harder to get invites no matter what job simply because there is nothing out there seeking.


One thing that annoys me is people putting up seek and then not bothering to have enough time to level. I am getting tired of making PTs for my THF invite people then have them leave before we even leave fing jeuno.

No I am not an elitist prick, I played one job to 75 and I have a fairly good idea of what you can do to make a good PT. I blist people now because I am tired of dealing with the same BS every night trying to make a PT.

What LS are you talking about? Neither mills nor I have ever been a leader of an LS nor do I have any idea who you are.

I would only think of inviting a mage that is lower than the melee. With melee I always make sure to invite them to be the correct level range, for instance 63+ in Labyrinth of Onzozo otherwise you cannot hit the toramas there due to the extremely high evasion.

I usually just let people think what the must, if they have to complain on forms and whine just to make other people look bad. But i just wanted to respond to two posts.

To the guy who said i kicked him from said LS. Get real dude, quit making stuff up... its pointless. I have never been the leader of any linkshell aside from the one I have right now. And in this one I have right now there are maybe 5 very close friends in it none of which have been you (whoever you are) and i have never kicked anyone out of it. Also the only LS i was in with Tamora was HA and I never even had a pearl sack there, so please stop with your lies.

And this is to Villainelle. Yes i do remember who you are and what happened, and let me start by giving a bit of background and then fill in all the facts that you left out making you look like a saint. First off yes I am a 75 drk, i played this job to level 75 getting no pts, begging and scratching my whole way thru. I know how it is to play a melee job and how frustrating and time consuming it can be. I got in a party or two with you and realized that you were a thief that knew what you were doing, and i respect that. Knowing how hard it is to get pts in melees anytime we were looking for one I suggested that they picked you up when you were seeking, simply because I knew what to expect and considered you to be a decent friend at the time. Now playing a paladin which is highly wanted and gets parties very very easy, I had a certain pull when it came to finding members. Well we leveled together for a bit, then got in one horrid party. It was in quicksand caves and as soon as we got there the red mage lagged out. It took nearly an hour to get a new one out there and drove me to the point of severe frustration. But i figured hell, i have been in the pt this long might as well give it a shot. First kill took about 15 minutes, invincible and there were deaths. The party was garbage, don't remember why or how but it was crap. After that first kill our new red mage we waited about an hour for had to go. I don't remember any emergency, i just remember a (have stuff to do gotta go!). And yes, i said screw this im cutting my losses and I instant warped. I wasted over an hour in this party, needed to use and waste my 2hr on the first fight and it turns out we couldnt even function as a party, AND we would have to wait for yet another red mage to arrive. Not worth the time or effort. I remember messaging you and saying sorry, because you were the only person in the pt i knew, and i moved on. A bit later i get a tell from some guy saying "blah blah i hate you i cant believe you left and i hear you do this all the time". Now I cannot recall one time leaving a party in this fashion, and especially one i was in with you. So after talking to him and apologizing i found out that it was you of all people that said this about me. Being a person who wouldnt know anything about this in the first place, and being someone who I had thought in the back of my head that I was helping out by getting you pt invites.... this was a bite in the @ss. And earned you your spot on my blacklist.

Many of you might think of me as an @ss or an elitiest, and hey I might just be. But for those who have taken the time to get to know me, they know otherwise. I've played this game thru now and I know how to play my jobs and how to put together a good party. I don't harass or give hard times to people who don't know how to play thier jobs, I will sometimes give them some tips or try to help them out or just simply don't invite them next time.

I figured you only meant inviting a lower mage, but I still was not sure if the enfeebles would stick as much. But you and Anklebiter have proved me wrong.

I still would not have blisted you if I was in Tamora's shoes but that is just me. I know it can be frustrating waiting for a mage to pop up that you have been looking for for a while, only to have them tell you that the party is not going to work for them. So you have the right to Blist Pen, and he/she has the right to not join the party if he/she feels it is not going to go well. I have not partied with either you nor Mills so I have no idea if you are elitist a@@es or not and will not make a judgement call until I do. Just my opinion ^^.

Here's a solution to the problem don't bring it to the forums, form a static and avoid the troubles of searching for people. But that was kinda silly of Tam to send a /tell that you were blisted, maybe Tam was having a bad day? Remember not all of us have all day timeframes to play ffxi, we do like to do things other than idling in town all day :)

Blacklisting someone for leaving your party because you didn't inform them of the level difference and they decided it was too much for their tastes is inappropriate.

Rubbing it in their face with "consider yourself blacklisted," as if being on your blacklist is an extremely significant punishment that should cause them to feel great shame, is just plain childish.

There is a difference between having game experience and being an elitist prick. I believe we know which side of the fence Tamora and Mills fall on.

Trust me Pen you did nothing rong. I have had those before with my white mage and I awalys feel like a jerk but I finnaly relized that I acculy have brains to make smart decisions. You just fine and I bet you a much better red mage than Tamora (if she even has one).

But this Tamora really sounds like this other person I know, Herodavid. Seems like they could almost be the same Person. This is where I had the same expirence with my white mage. I was lvl 10 had just dinged from 9. I was lvling in the highlands and I get invited to his party. So I accept thinking that it is a samll party in the highlands. I get in and they are all in the dunes and all lvl 14. I told herodavid that I don't even have cure II so that he should find another whm. Than we got into and he is to this day the only person on my black list.
