Lets get some life going on this message board. Throw some topics out there or problems to discuss. I will try and get us rolling by posing this question:

What has been your favorite job to level so far in the game?

My answer is BlackMage, I have leveled it to 49 so far and love it. The only thing that gets to me is spell expense, which you consume so it is gone forever, but I know all jobs have their expenses.

Lets get this rolling.....

Yeah gil is not an issue, I have successfully completed several BCNM's, which by the way is a future topic, why do Black Mages get no respect for BCNMs? I have taken a break from leveling blackmage and am working on several other jobs. But question about Freeze, what if it doesn't finish the mob off, is the hate gonna take you down?

Aloha! my first post ... I'm so glad there's finally a server forum.

My char is Miasz, a Mithra, and I'm a guy irl.

Despite what my profile says, I'm playing dark knight now, and it's by far my favorite. It's why I got into the game. And I didn't do it for the AF gear (though it's awesome) or the "massive" damage (I've read enough to know it's not the No. 1 choice for damage).

I did it for the chance to steal hp, mp and stats from mobs and still be expected to sit in battle and whack at them. I was in Qufim last night playing with Aspir for the first time, and i never needed to rest despite using mp every battle. Awesome. Such a fun, fun class. I can't wait until I get to use the Abs spells. I'm lvl 21 and have half the gil saved for Abs-Dex, and I've bought the rest of the spells.

I'm going to go ahead and say that SMN has been my favorite job to level up, especially from Levels 1-10. Those just flew by.

In parties, it's a different story. I worked the Shakhrami Maze from 10-13, and I kept getting invited to mage-only parties that would cast Carbuncle and run behind a corner. I obeyed, obviously, because Summoners have less than, like, 25 HP...

And, of course, there's the Dunes, which I don't think is pleasant for anyone. I didn't have the "Would you be our main healer?" problem until last night, and in that case, everyone asked me to be the main healer.

People, go read the SMN forum if you don't believe me. We can't be main healers. We don't have Cure II, and if one of you gets nuked, you're dead.

Now, as far as the worst job to level, I'd have to say it's a tie between WHM and THF. THF was good for me until about Lv5, when things just stopped dying fast enough. And I don't think I ever enjoyed WHM. I felt like a sitting duck with whatever I was fighting.

Great to see some responses roll in, lets keep this forum alive for seraph. And Souleye, sup my friend, I'm ready for some more BCNM runs, lets make some gil! Anyone else in need of a BlackMage or Whtm for BCNM let me know, I will come prepared.

My Main Job is DRK and its probably my favorite job to play since it has such versitality and reminds me so much of my ShadowKnight back on EQ

In my experience, which by no means is vast, I have never seen this tried. Mostly from what I have seen Drag/War is the common combination, and I guess Thf also for sneak attack. Whichever job deals the most damage and aides the party is what really matters most, but does adding a Dark sub really help that much? As far as two sources of "Stun" if there is already a Dark in the party is that even neccessary? But yet again, I have limited experience in the BCNM and the party setups we have had is not your "typical" BCNM party so I am not one to ask on what is acceptable and not :P

Our party setup was as follows on my last run, which was a 5/5 night.
Bard/Whtm
Dark/War
Dragoon/War (could have been Thf sub, not sure)
Whtm/Blm
Blm/Whtm
Blm/Whtm

I was the nuking, yag drinking, resting mp to nuke again blm, the other Blm healed the bard at all times. The Whtm kept the dark and dragoon healed up and of course "Paralyna". Dark was the semi tank (IE voked and WS to pull off of Bard) and the Dragoon pitched in Damage.
This setup worked really well for us, but alot of people are bias against BLM's in BCNM, but if a BLM can do his job well he more than makes up for his rest time, and using Yag Drinks helps immesensly. Besides once the Black Mandy is down its all good from there. Now our group by no means was setting any records, but we got the job done and that is the main thing to me.

Sup Boone? Good to see someone I know on here. RNG is by far, my favorite job, hands down. Like Villianelle said, it's great to know that you have such great power. I soloed an IT worm the other day, for the first time, just because I could.

Hey Kala. Cool, I'm glad more people are getting on these forums.

Well, I used to be a big advocate of Dark Knight. I thought it was the greatest job, combining power and party magic into one character.

Although DRK is still my main character class, I'd have to say my favorite job to level so far has been PLD.

I really think it was the job I was meant to do. I found myself missing being the "tank-type" or "hero" of the party from back when I was WAR/MNK in the early days and PLD really brought that feeling back.

Besides, there's just an innate pleasure in being able to take such insane amounts of punishment and have each hit take off..probably 1/2 what it would on another class.

Additionally, there is a certain excitement in being able to go Invincible at the touch of a button. ^_^
