Hey all,
As stated in my title, I haven't touched this game in 6 years. I'm starting completely from scratch and I've noticed a LOT has changed since I last played. I've played other MMO's but I miss the teamwork element FFXI offers that other games sorely lack. I'm 27, military, no kids, married to another service member who is about to deploy soon. I'd like to make some new friends and get back into this game. Thanks for reading my post.

You may wish to have a look at Cynosure (cynosure-online.com/forums). We're a larger-than-average social shell, but just because we are "social" doesn't mean we don't DO stuff, sometimes big stuff. We are a helpful bunch indeed, but will not spoil you; we will say to helping on tasks better done solo.
We HAVE had a "delay in new pearlings" for awhile (I mean 5-10 days tops), due to lots of new members lately. This doesn't mean that you don't get in, but we may ask you to wait a few days as we get to know our other new members a bit. This way, you are likely to be the only "new guy" and (thus) get to know us better when you arrive, instead of just being one more new face out of several.
In-game, I am Grommet, and you can look me up if you have questions, whether or not you are "pearled" yet and even if you do not join us.
