this world sports 1700-3000 depending on when you're on, good 3rd of that at any time are on their lvl 75 job. as with any older mmo, the majority of the playerbase is at endgame or highlevel, but there is a playerbase there to be with.

game is very top heavy, thre are approx the same amount of lvl 75's on as there is 1-74 .

Game just needs to find a way to give people the incentive to start new jobs.

I think merits are part of the problem, in one way its a good way to extend your job, but i think to cap a job it maybe too many merits and in turn could hold people back from leveling other jobs.

I think they shoudl lower the merit requirments skills down a bit, and increase the combo totals since alot of people have mulitple 75 jobs.

then maybe more people willing to bring other jobs to 75 knowing they can cap two weapons.

Since Aht Urghan now encompasses a vendor for just about ever guild for crafting, fishing and since the new areas promote more stuff to be done in aht urghan, most higher end people hang out there. There is still a good 2500+ people on the server, I did /sea all and got 23xx and there is undoubtedly some people not logged on.
