One of the things I've noticed is that LS's seem to have different functions nowadays. It seems people hop from one to another all over the place. I'm starting a linkshell that will be different. I want to create a home where people can go from start to endgame and be able to have fun. Where people do crafting to help out each other in the guild, not to inflate the economy. Where the LS will get together and do quests and missions. If you're interested, give Covenantking a tell in game.
