How do you know who is a Gilseller?Follow

#1 Nov 16 2005 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
The only real way to know who a gilseller is to buy gil and see who sent it to you. So if you ask our servers number one gil buyer "UNCTGTG" who sends him all his gil then we can really know who the gilsellers are. As we all know he has bought millions and millions of gil. If anyone can make a master list of Gilsellers and post it. I am sorry to throw UNCTGTG name out there like that but we need your help UNCTGTG on finding the gilsellers and since everyone already knows you buy gil buy the millions then i figured it wouldn't be a big deal. Lets put a end to the gil selling and buying on our server.

You know, I told myself I wouldn't post on this site again, because of complete and utter ******** like this thread. This is asking for a flame war......Anyways, Unctgtg is NOT a gilbuyer, yes, he's upgrading a relic weapon. There's plenty of other people who are trying to upgrade relic weapons....are they gilbuyers? Maybe...maybe not. I've been a close friend of Unctgtg's for a while now. In the time we've been friends, he's taught me a lot about farming and making gil. Much of it is so simple, it's stupid. He doesn't buy gil, what he does is play the market, much like any good business man. Did you know he also has high level bonecraft, and profits off of that? No, I bet you didn't. Some people need to start asking people up front instead of trying to instigate behind someone's back on a ******* thread....I'm pretty sure if you had asked him, he'd have shown you some ways to get gil...High school's over sweetheart, no need to talk **** just because you're jealous.

Rodin- 72WHM Talk to me in game sometime and I'll show you how to REALLY make gil.
#4REDACTED, Posted: Nov 16 2005 at 12:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You know there are ppl that buy gil and sell gil, and there is a big difference. It's not the Gil buyers we hate but the gil sellers. You have to understand the differnece, so be carfull on who u decide to aim things at. There is nothing wrong with gil buying, and if you have the money to buy gil good for ya hand down to you. I wish i was rich to be able to buy gil, and to not think and realize that im spending real money for fake money. Ppl make a living off being a gil seller, but lately the market for gil isn't much anymore like it was in the past. If you notice lately and check out website that off you to buy gil for servers you'll notice that it's going down.

I feel less empathy for gilbuyers than gilsellers. If there weren't any gilbuyers, there wouldn't be any gilsellers. There is, ostensibly, quite a market for gilbuying hence the ubiquitous presence of the gilsellers and their impact on the economy (overblown, IMO). Gilsellers need to play to sustain themselves (no, I'm not condoning their actions, merely presenting their side of things) and possibly others in the real world, whereas a gilbuyer is weaseling his/her way out of any effort to acquire things for whichu others laboured.

As for UNCT, I know the guy fairly well, so I doubt he's either a gilbuyer or gilseller (both accusations at the same time are illogical and funny). The guy knows how to make gil, so don't begrudge him his efforts (80+ of any skill is commendable) just because he knows how to play the market.

Anyway, in general, the ways to identify a gilseller (the point of this topic, presumably) are the following:
1) no linkshell, though this is not always the case
2) gimped sub, 64RDM/24BLM?
3) communicate little to nothing at all whilst in party
4) low rank for their high level job

Once again, these are general idears and nussing concrete, but it seems to be that these criteria are the makings of those oh-so-dreaded gilsellers.

Funny enough, the inverse is not always true. All of (for using someone that is wellknow) George Washinton is dead, but the inverse would state that All of the dead, is George Washinton.

Obviously, the latter is false.

The question of buying/selling is like the chicken and egg, it's answer has no use, and in the end, it's still there. I agree buyers are worse then sellers only because (as stated before) One is doing work, the other is paying for work to be done.

In any case, if sellers where removed, people would still try to obtain gil in other ways outside of the game. (Think back to Prohibition) On the otherhand, going after the buyers will still leave the sellers with a buisness, but without demand. Without demand for gil, companies like IGE will buy less, and even devaule gil comparied to other currency. The lesser of two evils in a business sense would to go after the buyers, unlike a product like "drugs", where the sellers are allowing the flow of illegal products to reach it's buyers.

#11REDACTED, Posted: Nov 16 2005 at 8:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No, that's not true. To me, both sucks. Gilsellers and gilbuyers suck. And to me both are as bad

I used to play FFXI & yes I brought gil twice first time was for my sniper rings I brought 4mil gil & another time I brought another 3mil cuz I needed to buy a new weapon.

Took this pic of the 4mil I recieved, this may or may not help you but this person sent the 4mil & 3mil to me & also heard from a friend who brought gil 6+ times it's only come from this same person.

My characters gone, but I still read the forums to see what else you a$$hats are whining about.

My point was rather obvious: supply and demand. There is obviously a large population of people across all servers willing to buy gil to sustain the gilselling market. If there were less people buying less gil, then there wouldn't be as many gilsellers "ruining the game". My further point is that gilbuyers ruin the game more by perpetuating the gilsellers' presence, savvy?

OP: Why didn't you just ask Unctgtg instead of making this post. It would've been much nicer if you first asked him, and then, if he knew the answer, would post those names, and reveal that the source was Unctgtg. Looks to me that you're just a bitter, unintelligent **** that wants to smear smelly caviar on other's reputation. Besides, your topic is completely on the side of things, why not just name the thread "Petition to Unctgtg" or something like that?

It's sort of unbelievable that so many people can have weird opinions about one person that doesn't really stand out. If it weren't for all these slanderous accusations (that also adds some obvious facts, like Unctgtg being a DRK75 that wants to upgrade his relic scythe) I wouldn't know anything about him. Except that he has this annoying flee macro. LOL but noone's perfect. Since noone with an I.Q. under 90 and grades lower than E in English seems to like Unctgtg, I'd like to propose a theory to what might have happen. (since you obviously needs some ideas to what could be the outcome if this continues.)

A ton of people get jealous of Unctgtg - standing out as a rich and accomplished player. So, he gets a ton of aggro, turns arrogant and tired of pathetic and whiny tells ingame and utterly stupid forum posts from idiots like the original poster. (no offense, but I'm sure you must've realized you're not very smart already.) Idiots follow the stream, and it turns into a trend to hate Unctgtg. It's not politically correct, but that's sooo 90s anyway, so let's just join the masses. The fewer that disagrees the better, since we're all cowards anyway.

I'm certain however, that all this attention directed towards one single being would, to an extreme extent, either result in a nervous breakdown or feed his ego so much that he changes from cozy old Uncle Tug-Tug to Uncle Evil-Slug. In either case, doing this, isn't making the Unctgtg phenomenon any better. If you don't like him as a person, you won't change him into the better by giving him this sort of attention over a severe period of time.

Yes I'm excaggerating to prove a point. I'm not saying that he's on his good way to have a nervous breakdown or turning into a demon. But all this negativity (or attention, depending on how you look at it) directed towards one person, aren't really good for anyone. So, if you really want Unctgtg to stay helpful to lowerleveled players and in general be a nice guy, maybe all of you idiots (I'm saying idiots because I don't have any respect for you, I might as well just say it. Why, because you don't respect people for no apparent reason, that's reason enough for me.) There are a lot of other rich players that we never assume buy gil, but they are total jackasses to others. Unctgtg seemingly does neither (act bad nor buys gil) so let's just assume he's doing well in the game and put that part to rest.

Sometimes we all get jealous, it's a human reaction, totally normal. What we should realize, is that jealousy stems from admiration. We aren't jealous or envy people we don't somehow admire. We either admire them, or if we envy their material status, then we admire the stuff they've hoarded up.

Now come on, let's try to have some fun on our server, there's /smile and /wave and /joy, not only /stagger, /fume and /slap for a reason.

I think Stackdump buys gil because of his cooking level and that im jealous of it. Anyways back to the point i have not ever spoke to unctgtg but if he is this so called gil buyer/seller or whatever then why would he waste his time helping people for free.

There is no way. It's all assumption.
If a person, or group of people monopolize NMs or farming zones, that doesn't mean they sell the gil, it does mean they are bastards, but what they actually do with that gil, you don't know.
