O. Kote and Jujitsu Gi: Impossible to camp?Follow

Hello, I've recently started leveling my SAM, which I am very much enjoying, and these items (which I consider staples) have come to my attention.

My question: What's the "gilseller status" on these items here in good ol' Ragnarok? I'm not terrible with claiming, but against bots/gilsellers, I'd probably have a hard time.

For those of you that don't know, the NM that drops the O. kote is:

Mee Deggi the Punisher

And for the Jujitsu Gi:

Poisonhand Gnadgad

Thank you for your time!

Check the prices on Jeuno AH, that should be a good indication of how much they are camped.

I wouldn't bother trying to camp those items. That is, unless you have like a pt or two from Axiom helping you camp the things.

I don't know if the Gi is as much a glamour piece for you elvaan and not a neccesity.

I do not own either item, so others may have a better view on this.

I would say get royal squires chainmail at level 40 instead of the jujitsu Gi.(def, str, dex)

I hear many differing opinions on the O.kote, being a hume I use my RSE gloves. I haven't a clue as to what you as an elvaan should use.

When you reach level 40 that Gi seems overrated and overpriced, especially if you get the Tilt belt(same level) which has +5 accuracy and-5 evasion for it's stats. I bought mine for like 5k as opposed to the 400-800k Gi

I hope this somehow helps.

i recommend getting the Gi because ACC+4 is better than STR+1 DEX+1 on the Royal Squire. The O. Kote has +20 ATT which is sweet. I was kicking *** when I was using it.

It doesnt matter what race you are. Don't listen to how race effects your job and all that ****. As long as you have fun playing. You can deal damage regardless of your race.

I'd definately Suggest getting a Ju Gi one way or the Other, as it helped my 42-54 Streak out very nicely since being Elvaan, I could use the Accuracy. Keep in mind when I had mine, it was Maybe 250k or so in the AH.

If you find the Camp, or ~1 Mil Price tag is rediculous, perhaps you may just want to level w/ Sole Sushi if your Acc Is suffering.

As for Gloves, I rolled Battle Gloves til AF, but I was also playing Monk, and had the +Atk from Boost spam.

Good luck on hunting your Gear Out :) Obviously, you're not the only one hunting it :-p

Mee deggi is certainly claimable, as well as quu domi across the way. It takes a little bit of work, but if you can sub THF for flee and have a nice claiming ability, you can get the claim about 50% of the time. (too bad the drop rate is wretched, Im 0/5 on mee deggi, 1/6 on quu domi)

Thanks again for the help!

In reponse to PicOo:

I wish us SAM could use battle gloves! I'm sticking with my Federation Tekko (+3 acc +3 racc) for now, very good piece. I'm determined to get the gi, it's the kote that I'm wavering on...

fishstickz:

I'll keep that in mind, I should probably level THF up to a flee-worthy level (mine is only 15 at the moment).

Thank you!

Um, you get {Flee} at level 25...so it's just the matter of having a level 50+ job so that you can sub thief, or just level thief to high enough level to camp those NMs...(which...you'll also get THII as a plus from leveling Thief that high)

After i handed back the O.Kote i got from veddy *nod*, i spent about 3 months farming/crafting my @$$ off to get myself a o.kote. in the long run, i thought it better to earn mine though gil making skills, than to camp the things. i will say, i love them to death now that i have my own, and i am also glad i nailed them back when they were 1.8 mil... seeing as how they are 2.8-3 mil now.

camping them is a good option, but make it a fun outing, and keep it a friendly camp, and the time will fly by. i do highly reccomend them. they do make a huge difference in damage output. i never leave my mog house without them XD

as far as the jujitsu gi... i used one for a bit... but i hated the paper thin def on it, especially now since i am usually a trick partner (first voke)... it's simply not even worth it, unless you are a monk, as far as i can tell. but you can live without both and manage fine, IMO. i have PT'd with "ghetto samurai's" that didn't have them, and they did just fine with what they had, and food.

i guess the point of this is, both are really just luxury items, and you shouldn't put too much stress on having them. i'm sure... no, i'm positive you'll make a kick @$$ sam, no matter what you wear.

Thank you Wrench. :)

VassarAK, that was a typo, my THF is only at 15, oops. XD I meant I'm going to have to level it up to 25, which is no problem sub-wise because my PLD is 53.

Thank you!

Well, if you got thf at 15, you're in great shape since you got Sneak Attack...

If you can, go thf/mnk and try SA+Combo! It's great...(That's what I did to level mine and I have no regets doing it like that)

Also with that setup, try getting worms parties, like in the maze, korroloka tunnel, and qufim. 15-25 will go by quickly if you got the proper equipment and a good party setup

oh yeah, on another note... when i get sam AF hands, there is a real good chance i'm going to sell my o.kotes anyway, but for a piece of 34 armor to last till AF, it's worth it to me. so it's kinda like an investment, as i said i got them @ 1.8 mil, now they are going for 2.8. so, by the time you AF, they might be 5 mil XD

now, at 50 (i think) there are some sandy CP hands that give some acc, so you might be tempted to go that route, since elvans aren't lacking in dmg...

an alternative then:
Royal Squire's Mufflers, at sam 30
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=609

then:
Royal Knight's Mufflers at sam 50
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=1590

i do see alot of elvaans going this route, rather than blow millions on o.kote.

Vassar:

I did just that to get my THF up to level 15... THF/MNK works wonders. :D

Wrench:

My current hand piece (Federation tekko) provides +3 acc, and you -can- keep this for a long time. My thing is, +20 attack is going to make much more of a difference than +3 acc (unless they are on a completly different scale, which we'll never know). Thanks for pointing those others out though! ^^

edit: Here is my current gear~ Jatao's SAM gear

A couple of notes: I have a macro that switch out the DEX rings for STR rings on my weapon skills. And the Windurstian gi, well I'm still experimenting with it. Not sure whethere to use it or my power gi.

My suggestion for the gi if you keep trying to camp it...have a lot of friends show up to help you. A 75pld in our ls wanted one for his monk without paying the stupid high price of it so we camped it...claimed it 16 times and only got one drop...including 2 claims with me as /thf and a thf with th3. The drop rate is kinda sucky on it and everyone wants to get it because it's decent gil but it takes a few people with you to get the claim consistantly.

After we got the drop we all vanished to let another guy that needed one and I think a gi seller try and battle it out. We only camp what we plan on using so yeah >_>.

I stick to my method of obtaining gil...mass farming on mobs I know drop fast selling items for a decent price. I lack patience when it comes to camping a NM with other people against me for the same claim.

I had never tried camping a NM before this weekend. I went down to davoi to camp Poisonhand. In about 6-8 hours of camping I got the claim 3 times. There were quite a few people there, many I assume were gil sellers. I camped the small forest area, and he popped there 5 times, 3x in the back of the forest and 2x near the main path. It is deffinately claimable if you have a fast spell. Make sure you are strong enough to kill him though because he uses 2HR hundred fists. I was 54drk at the time and he killed me once. No drop on either of my kills though, got the pants once tho. Good luck!
