I have finally been legitimately MPKd.
Yeah I know, everyone complains about it and a lot of what I see people CALL MPK isn't even close. Sorry but if you party at the zone and people zone mobs, you're not being MPKd. You just happen to be in the way.
I was running through Koroloka tunnel when I see the treasure coffer (amazingly right there on the way to the cape) and of course it's the ONE time I go through there with now key. So ok, I go do what I came to do (Summon fight) and get back to Rabao and figure I'll go check it.
I grab my key and run out. Talk about luck, it's STILL THERE.
Well as I'm grabbing the coffer (its on a ledge so actually getting in rang took some effort) a party comes up and tries too, I manage (after 9 attempts) to finally pop the coffer. Now, until this time the tunnel in the are was EMPTY. But as I pop it I'm immediately waylaid by 5 crabs.
Two people start waving goodbye to me, laughing, and generally yucking it up. They were the two standing next to the coffer trying to pop it after I started trying (at least I assume they were trying) or maybe that's just how they got the mobs to train up on the ledge.
Anywho, I got the coffer, for the map, and died for the effort. 2400k XP was worth it to me though because they lost the coffer and a GM happened to be in the area. :) Guess what two players suddenly vanished? :)

So, what jobs were they & how did they make 5 crabs immediately appear & attack you?
They had a party of 6. I am assuming camping for the coffer and I beat them.
One person came running up as I opened it and as soon as my sneak dropped, there they were.
There were literally NO mobs in the area for a good distance. WAY more than agro range. But there WERE crabs in the main cave where these people came running from.
Even if all the crabs had POPPED as I opened the coffer, there's still a delay. I would have been able to sneak up again.

Guess I still don't understand how they did it.
-If they zoned a train, you should have seen them going by or on the return.
-If they were released by BSTs, there's a cool off on a released pet, similar to the delay mobs have when they first pop & don't aggro for a few seconds.
-If they were bound on top of you, snips don't have very strong AoEs (bubble shower? :P ) to take you down that quickly.
-If they were shadowbound on top of you- unless it was a pt of RNG, then only 1, maybe 2 could be on you- certainly not enough to take a 70 rng down that quickly.
So, these two somehow managed to train mobs up on the ledge, drop sneak to try to pop the coffer (possibly), and sat there laughing and taunting you with this vicious pack of attack crabs attacking them. Not sure how they would shed aggro from them....

airamis , im not saying you are lying.. but 9 tries (are you using thf or something)? if you got key, it only take one try.. 2nd what jaffar said... party of 6, if they trained crabs, noway the crabs would go after you unless all of them are dead.. maybe you didnt see the crabs or something.
He said it was on a ledge, so I'm assuming it was just in/out of reach and he had to move around to actually get in the proper range to pop it. I'm not really familiar with the coffers in that area.
Hmmmm, though I'm still a bit confused on how he got aggro, unless there was some glitch.
Now if 1 person in the party was the puller of the crabs and the others were still sneaked (or maybe not sneaked), and the puller warped out ahead of time near the coffer - it could happen. Just speculation.

I've done a little coffer hunting in Kuftal. I COMPLETELY believe you. Some nasty people hunt gil in that place.

GM handled it so I could give a whippity smack if anyone else believes me or not.
Odd to think people would suggest I lied about it. Sure.. I have nothing better to do than lie about something in a game. Works for me.

Unfortunately, I think this may be something to get used to. With the number of rare/ex items increasing ingame, I think the number of bad behavious/mpk/etc will increase with it. Just wait until you have camped OBow, or even Ose, Yeah - OSE...

Yep, people are getting terrible on going after Rare/Ex items. I someone gets the claim, let them have it. Don't try and get them killed.
It happened to me when I wa hunting my own Moldavite earing. Some other RDM in the area with a THF and a RNG and the RDM sends me a /tell, "Earring MINE!" I just ignore it.
NM pops and they don't even see it, bonus for me. I dia it and get it out of the way to avoid links. Killing.....killing....killing... then the THF that was with the RDM decides to pull a gob up to me and then used "Hide" and looses aggro. Oh great I am in a corner with a linking mob right at the end. Gob aggroes me so I figure what the heck and just sleep him. Then attack the NM fast so I don't loose hate. Ok, they see they have kinda failed. The RNG then pulls another gob and Camos himself to loose the hate. Great another gob on me. I have no choice so I sleep that one as well. So here I am fighting the Moldy NM with two gobs aggroed to me and they just sit and watch like MPKers often do. I kill the NM. WOOWHOO!!! I got the drop. They have the nerve to clap at me. Oh well, I warp out of there and then the THF starts yelling at me for trying to MPK him. Oh well, /blacklist add and I am done.

Congrats.. I'm sure everyone has experienced or heard of such good friendly behavor. It's about the only thing that stops me from hunting for a peacock charm. grats again ^^
Just find it odd that it took me over a year of playing for someone to finally do it.
