So, Doctor Strange was decent, but nothing terribly special. Pretty basic origin story stuff for the most part. The mirror dimension scenes have some cool special effects, but you get to see a lot of that in trailers. I did see it in 3D and honestly, it didn't do much for me. A couple scenes where the characters are falling large distances looked good, but for the most part it was fairly flat. That's the sort of thing you get when a movie is converted to 3D instead of being shot in 3D. If you haven't decided which version to watch, I'd save the money. I did like the way that Strange faced down Dormammu was somewhat original. It made for a somewhat anticlimactic final fight, but it was at least something different, which I appreciated.
As to the after credit scenes, there are two of them. The first one is a basically a setup for the next Thor, which wasn't anything special. Just a quick back forth between Thor and Doctor Strange about how Thor had brought Loki to Earth to help track down Odin. Doctor Strange would rather Loki not be on Earth and agrees to help find Odin to speed up Loki's departure. The second is a setup for the next Doctor Strange movie, where I expect Mordo will be the main villain.
This isn't even close to the best Marvel movie, I can't even say that I would recommend seeing in theaters unless you happen to be a huge Doctor Strange fan and just can't wait. It does make for a strong weekend rental or late cable movie though.

I thought the movie was great. It was a bit more graphic than previous Marvel movies. When Hong Kong comes under attack at the end of the movie and he is unwinding the damage, you see pedestrians being crushed, thrown through wind shields of vehciles, etc. A lot of blood. A decapitation in the first minute of the show. When compared to previous Marvel Universe films, it was a bit unexpected. Edit: I have a feeling that the time loop in the end went on a lot longer than the movie would have shown. Long enough to make an eternal being mad enough to compromise. I think it goes a lot to show Strange's resolve. Able to die over and over, without giving in before Dormammu does. Kind of reminded me of the last season of Doctor Who when he spends 1000s of years slowly pounding through a crystalline wall, dying each time.

I think if you were to see anything in 3D, this would probably be the film to do it. I still prefer 2D cause I wear prescription glasses and don't like the feel of something ontop of my glasses. Fantastic Beasts - Will probably go see this one with my parents when it comes out. My mom is really into Harry Potter. I like them too. And it's one of the movies she'll be interested in.

After it finished that trailer my brother said it was the 3D trailer, and that's what it looks like when they ***** up and show it in the 2D showing. Justice League finds it's main bad guy in Ciaran Hinds who will play Steppenwolf, and use a motion-capture suit to enhance his performance similar to Josh Brolin's Thanos. At least according to Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye will get more to do in Avengers: Infinity War, which is good since he's pretty much the better part of the team movies.
Elodie Yung to return as Elektra in The Defenders, which is really making me feel like Nostradamus right now. Admittedly, I thought she was the weakest part of Daredevil.
Scarlett Johansson's Ghost in the Shell is expected to have a trailer this weekend, and they've released a teaser for that. I like Scarlett, and I am quite amused at all the gnashing of teeth at the casting, but for the life of me I just can't feel anything towards this. I didn't think Ghost in the Shell was all that good a show and/or movie and I just feel they're scrapping the bottom of the barrel for movies here. And I know that just because it hasn't be successful yet doesn't mean it can't be successful, after all that's how comic book movies were until relatively recently, but anime to Western Live Action has been pretty miss and miss harder.

I agree about GitS, I really just don't care. The show has way too much of eveyone just standing around talking about the story instead of actually participating in it. I found it to be incredibly boring.

IFC has a new show out that I think would appeal to a lot of the weirdos that hang around this place. It's called Stan Against Evil. It's basically a horror comedy, somewhat similar in tone to Ash vs the Evil Dead, but less graphic. John C Mcginley (the fellow that played the angry older doctor on Scrubs) plays the main protaganist, Stan. He's pretty much the same character he played on Scrubs, but slightly less arrogant. In the first episode he attacks a creepy old woman at a funeral and has to resign as sheriff to the small town he lives in. Anyway, some plot points later and it turns out that the town is infested with demons and sheriff is the target.
I've seen the first four episodes so far and I'm liking it. It's got a good blend of oddball humor, violence, and inappropriate situations. Anyway, it's on on Wednesday's at ten, they do two new thirty minute episodes back to back. Here's some youtube stuff:

Also according to Holland he's not going to actually punch anyone. "It's all done kind of by accident," as he puts it. There are some decent visuals in the trailer, I'm still not terribly interested though.
Looks like The Inhumans aren't going to be a movie, but a TV show on ABC. However, according to Marvel, the first two episodes will be released in theaters on IMAX. One would assume this meant that it'd be about Mary Sue Poots and the rest of the boring Inhumans on Agents of SHIELD, but the press release confirms that the show will be about Black Bolt and the rest of the Royal Family. That doesn't mean Poots won't show up, or even be a central figure, but at least there's that.

Remember when The Crow reboot lost it's star and then director, then the production went bankrupt, and then eventually picked up director Corin Hardy and Jason Momoa as the main actor and was on track to finally turn a camera on? Well, the production company that was ultimately in charge of the reboot, Relativity Media, just lost the rights to even make the movie. Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow are now in control of the rights to the franchise, and are said to begin on The Crow: Reborn. No word whether Hardy and Momoa will be brought into this new deal, as new contracts would have to be drawn up and such, so for all intense porpoises the movie has once again lost it's director and star instantaneously.

Jervis had a nifty top hat. Also I don't know if it's just getting used to it or something changed, like puberty or whatever, but the girl they got to play Felicia looks less alieny compared to first season Gotham. The crossover starting in Supergirl was literally just tacked on last minute almost like an afterthought and added nothing to either the actual show or the crossover itself. If all you're interested in is the event then you could skip Supergirl all together and not miss a thing. A few wormholes popped up and disappeared during the episode and then SUDDENLY BARRY AND CISCO APPEAR. Having to juggle Supergirl's alternative dimension is really negatively affecting the universe if you ask me. Also in this spoiler I nerdrage about why a real Deathlok is on Supergirl and not Agents of SHIELD. Seriously, that's Deathlok not Cyborg Superman. Oh, and deus ex'ing J'on's lupus was kind of annoying. As far as I can find the musical crossover is just between Flash and Supergirl since Amell doesn't want to do it because he feels it isn't the "right tone" for the show.
As a complete aside, was that Carl as the Uncle on Steven Universe?

Remember how I said it was unnecessary to even watch Supergirl if all you're interested in this year's crossover since there was very little there contributing to the overarching story? As it turns out even the little bit that was shown on her show was just repeated on Flash anyway so there was literally zero reason for it on Supergirl. As an aside, Rory being Rory was the overall best part. Near the end of the episode Oli gives the trademark inspirational speech about how if anyone had the same choice Barry did about changing the timeline they'd all take it, which had me screaming at the television about how not ten minutes ago Sara was lecturing Barry about how she's in that situation all the time and she doesn't do it and Oli was standing like two feet away listening. Overall a pretty standard "Barry's good intentions ultimately messes everything up and barely reins it back before it destroys everything" episode.

The Elder Scrolls: Final Fantasy has been taking up a lot of my free time the past couple days. I started watching SHIELD this morning before work, and when I got out of work the first thing I did was eat dinner then fire up the game. Forgot about the rest of the show.

This time we'll see Spidey leap off a building, open his arms, and classic web wings! Though added to the news is that the costume will be given to him by Happy Hogan, which is a little disappointing. Would like to see Peter come up with this stuff, not Tony Stark. But, you know, web wings.

Little disappointed Mantis isn't green, though she didn't start green in the books either so I can hold out. Drax losing it was also worthwhile. "Fox on the Run" by Sweet just doesn't have the same impact that "Hooked on a Feeling" had for the first movie, but a lot of that has to do with knowing what to expect going into the sequel.

There's a rumor going around that Armie Hammer will be a Green Lantern in the DCEU. Over five tweets he said that there was going to be a very big announcement and this.

I thought "Fox on the Run" was a solid pick. Song people likely know when they hear it and think "That's a great song" but haven't actually thought about in ages.

Westworld's first season is over. I'm not sure if I think it really needs a second though. Haven't looked into whether or not it got renewed, but it did call it the "season 1 finale" so I can only assume. I would not be angry if it were wrapped up though. Think it has just the right amount of open ends to leave it as is.
