Westworld, No Surprises by Radiohead on the player piano. Took me a minute to remember the name of the song. I hope they release a soundtrack of all the piano covers. Show is mind freaky enough to keep my attention, but it's that piano that has really hooked me. Ash vs Evil Dead found a line and hilariously jumped over it by literally shoving Ash's head up someone's ass. Really, not something you'd expect.
Supergirl returns tonight, and Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday and it's safe to say that the capes have taken over any chance of free time for the season.
Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, and Florence Kasumba have all snuck into Black Panther. Whitaker as someone named Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. In the books he's a friend of Thor's. Kaluuya is W'Kabi, a chief of Wakandan security and T'Challa's second in command. Kasumba will reprise her role from Captain America: Civil War as Ayo, who was the woman that Black Widow almost beat up, the Dora Milaje member. Kate Beckinsale was asked during a panel about her next Underworld movie if there were any plans to crossover with Blade, which she responded that she heard that Marvel was doing something with the vampire daywalker. Keep in mind that Marvel reacquired the Blade rights back in 2011, but just haven't done anything with the license since.
John Wick: Chapter 2 trailer. Lotsa guns. Mr Wick is once again drawn out of retirement, this time something about helping a friend who is trying to get control over some international group of super assassins. Not like the interest in this movie is from the plot, right? Joining Keanu will be Bridget Moynahan (his dead wife that gave him the puppy), Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne, and Ruby Rose.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers trailer. It's the Power Rangers. Seriously. That's really all that needs to be said. More serious than I thought it would be, but has a weird Breakfast Club feel to it. Bryan Cranston as Zordon, which is all that we really need to know.
More importantly, Director Dean Israelite confirmed that this guy is showing up, though nothing about who will be the person behind him.
Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe teaser trailer. Six episode online series, though not sure where online. Good cast, actually. Michael Rowe, who was Deadshot in Arrow as Ninjak and Jason David Frank, who was the original Green Ranger.
Another couple of images for Wolverine: Logan. First a location shot, presumably of a Weapon X facility, or whatever company is trying to turn mutants into weapons as previously rumored. Next, another location shot, of a puddle and a motel sign. No clue on that one. Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, leader of the Reavers. Looks more like he'd be more comfortable on the set of The Lost Boys.
Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man is coming to an end and being replaced with Marvel's Spider-Man, presumably because the Ultimate universe finally buckled and much like the M2 line they need to erase all but the most spidery traces of it. Hopefully they ditch the Family Guy style cutaways. They're horrible enough on Family Guy, worse in shows that try to have storylines.
Iron Fist has completed production, and has released a teaser trailer. Sucks, because it looks good and waiting is horrible. Definitely the opposite of Luke Cage, lots of action as a show based on mystical kung-fu would be expected to have, complete with the glowy hand. I could do without the beard, though. Also I swear that's Madame Gao / Crane Mother about twenty seconds in.
No word on who the main big bad will be, but Lewis Tan has been confirmed to be Zhou Cheng, who in the books was a named henchman for Ch'i-Lin, who has been tasked to kill all iterations of the Iron Fist. Comes with a Twitter video. Sigourney Weaver will be the lead villain in The Defenders. Short video on Twitter with all the actors on stage. Kind of hard to guess just which character, if any, she would be best for. Presumably something Hand ninja related.
Gabriel Luna was asked about the possibility of his Robbie Reyes getting a spinoff, to which he replied "You know, there's been rumblings about that. It depends on how much you love it. If you love it, we'll make it." Not a real answer if you ask me, but a nice thought.
Evangeline Lilly says she won't be in the next Avengers movie, but will be showing up in the one after that. She also confirms that the next Ant-Man movie will be essentially about The Wasp's origin, and how she'll take on the mantle.
Jemaine Clement joins the cast on FX's upcoming Legion. Bigger news during that particular panel was that Jeph Loeb commented on how "Bridges are being made between the Fox and Disney world of Marvel's," and that the show will definitely allude to the fact that David Haller's father is Charles Xavier.
Deborah Ann Woll has been officially confirmed to be appearing in The Punisher, days after pictures leaking of her on set with Solid Frank. Unfortunately, the show isn't expected to debut until 2018 making me want to strangle a small cuddly animal. Jon Bernthal says his take on the character was inspired by the Thomas Jane short fanfilm Dirty Laundry, which is a good choice.
Netflix Daredevil blu-ray expected to hit stores next month. Was supposed to be this month, but I guess that fell through. Still no word on whether there'll be any extras or not, or what they might be.

According to the studio president Kevin Feige, "(Black) Panther is not really an origin story, since we saw him already in Civil War. But his standalone certainly introduces you to 99% of his world that you never saw. And Captain Marvel is certainly an origin. It's an origin story from the start." I just hope they actually introduce Mar-Vell as well. I mean, I can imagine how they'd do it without the original Captain Marvel, but not in any way that'd be particularly appealing to the core fanbase. Marvel Studios have been pretty good with changing up character origins while keeping the core bulletpoints intact, even with Doctor Strange's Ancient One, so I'd hate for this to be their first slip up.
There was a fifteen minute preview for Doctor Strange, and the audience reaction was positive. Which means about as much as me writing that "it was positive," seeing as how there was a similar reaction to Dawn of Justice, and really it's hardcore fans that see these previews. I mean, seriously. People paid to see a fifteen minute collection of scenes. You have to be hardcore to do that, which to me completely negates their opinions. For what it's worth, they're saying the visuals are out of this world and the trailers don't do it justice, and that it may have shown Dormammu. Very acid-trippy, which if true is what I was hoping for way back when the movie was first announced.

Checked out Channel Zero: Candle Cove. I kind of expected it to be based on the creepypasta, but this was bordering plagiarism. Even the main character's name is part of the original story. All they really changed was the year, from the early 70s to late 80s. The only really creepy part of the show was, in fact, the show itself. "You have to go inside" line spoken by Laughingstock near the end really does have a way of getting under your skin. Read somewhere that Channel Zero was only a six part mini series, so if that's true I guess I could stick with it.

Caught up on Flash. Liked both episodes. Had some good laughs. And I didn't noticed that the new guy in Barry's office was Malfoy, until they were at the river and he started acting like a giant douche. Then I thought, "Man, that *** sounds like Draco." Tilda Swinton says that there is, in fact, another planet involved in Doctor Strange. There has been a ton of rumors that the mid/end credits scene would involve Thor: Ragnarok some how, and we know that particular movie is off planet. Could also be they changed up the Dark Dimension a little bit and bring in Dormammu.

I'm glad I watched Rocky Horror last night, because while the acting was grade A ham, and the "audience" participation scenes were absolutely horrible, the music was great. Probably because they didn't try to alter that in any way. They were just trying too hard to be campy versions of the originals, and it just didn't work for me. Also probably one of the last chance to see Tim Curry. Legends of Tomorrow's music, outside a brief moment during the bar fight, was absolutely horrible. Especially during the obligatory super hero misunderstanding fight at the start of the episode. That music actually made me angry.

Yeah. I was left with a bit of a "meh" reaction to the film. It's hard to judge something when you're so used to the original. I'm honestly torn that they basically did a line by line remake of the original. On the one hand, it makes for easy transition of audience dialogue, but on the other hand, it's almost impossible to avoid judging the differences in how the lines were delivered from the old cast to the new. And in some cases, it was fine. The actress who played Janet was pretty much spot on (in some ways I thought her performance was better than Sarandon's). Brad was ok. The slightly different take on Columbia worked, more or less. Same with Riff Raff and Magenta. Just enough different that you noticed, but close enough that it still worked (although this version Riff Raff just didn't have the same loud and raspy voice of O'Brien, but it wasn't terrible).
Honestly, my biggest issue was with the new Frank N. Furter actress (er... formerly actor?). Her voice and pacing was just... wrong. I get why they cast her and it did make a lot of sense (ironically, it makes it less problematic for a TV broadcast show to have a trans actress playing a female character who seduces both male and female characters, and be building a male sex monster, lest we forget the plot itself). But I just couldn't get past what sounded like a bad lisp whenever attempting higher notes (or just in dialogue, which was frankly worse). Kind of an unfair comparison to Curry's singing and speaking voice, but there you have it. She just sounded BAD in pretty much every line sung or spoken.
There were other minor differences that weren't big deals, but would change audience participation (or eliminate it in some spots). In this version, the bannister isn't lucky. We can't step up the reactor "Three... More... Triangles!" (but instead we get to play with what looked unapologetically like breasts with metal nipple/buttons, so there's that). And everyone doesn't get stoned at Frankie's parties anymore (just kinda poorly frozen in place I guess). And, of course, there were no nip slips in the film anywhere. Oh. And I guess Rocky takes a dive in the third film instead of the fifth (which dialogue honestly got more strange once there actually was a fifth Rocky film). And the world never spins, for what that matters. Again, just minor differences, and I don't expect anyone will be playing this for audience participation night instead of the original anyway, but still. If you're going to do a line by line re-make, why not do everything identically as well? Kinda need to pick a direction and go that way. They vacillated in between, which I think was what bothered me. It was like "this scene is exactly like the original... except that one thing right there".
I did like how they integrated the audience watching the film to the film itself. Including having the film being shown in the same set "castle" as the events in the film. Kinda worked in a "film within a film" way. And they didn't overdo the cuts to the participation scenes, so it wasn't too distracting. Just enough to remind the viewers of what's supposed to be going on (sorta). Obviously, said participation was tame, but that was to be expected for a broadcast show.
All in all, worth the time watching it with some friends. Probably not worth bothering with other than as an interesting and fun homage to said original though. Not that I've been in that scene for like decades, but that was just my take on it.

Speaking of music, just got my hands on the Luke Cage soundtrack. Kind of disappointing that Jidenna's 'Long Live The Chief' track is missing. But everything else seems to be intact, and the soundtrack was one of the show's highlights so not much to be disappointed in. An amusing amount of parenting they want to actually do.

Three directors have been interviewed to take over for Deadpool 2. John Wick's David Leitch is the current "favorite" according to rumors, but The Martian's Drew Goddard and Luke Cage's Magnus Martens are also on the shortlist for the job. Frankly, all good choices for different reasons.
The next three Stan Lee cameos are all being directed by James Gunn. Seems a bit nonsense to have a separate main director just for a ten second scene.

Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page and Simone Missick Misty Knight confirmed to be in The Defenders. Now to bring in Rachael Taylor and whoever costars in Iron Fist and you've got a good mesh up of actors across the various series. And Darryl from that Thor short. e - Add Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, and Elden Henson to the list of returning people for The Defenders. Jeri Hogarth, Malcolm "Powder" Ducasse, and Foggy Nelson respectively.
If you ask me, The Flash movie has been in trouble since that ridiculous tacticool paintball armor costume was revealed, but that's subjective. Some people probably liked it. After all, some people like the Madea and Fast & Furious movies. No account for taste, but whatever. But now Rick Famuyiwa has left the production, rumors that it was due to creative differences. This would be the second director to leave, the first being Seth Grahame-Smith. The movie starts principle photography in March, leaving four months to find a director, and apparently Ezra Miller has a commitment in July. Meaning another movie. What that means is that if they don't keep on schedule the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
Speaking of wayward director, ex-Deadpool 2 director Tim Miller is signed on to develop a Sonic the Hedgehog movie adaptation. There's a significant step down. Also barely related, Taylor Swift borrowed the actual Deadpool costume from Ryan Reynolds. That particular bit of trivia is guaranteed to show up in the sequel.

Short Doctor Strange PreReview: I said elsewhere I wouldn't be able to see Doctor Strange on opening weekend, and that I was going to just keep my paid ticket and watch a cam. And I did just that, and damn do I want to see it in theaters that much more. The story does it's thing, nothing exceptional or disappointing. That's not to say there isn't some interesting directions it goes in away from the source material. Overall it's an origin movie, with all the trappings of them. It's almost entirely a serious movie, with a few gag scenes that honestly don't really enhance the movie. Most of them don't distract from the pace, either. One does, though, and that was unfortunate. The main villain is pretty much standard for the MCU by this point, one, done, and more plot device than a real character. And the music is the kind of epic grandoise organized chaos you'd expect from a movie like this and does enhance the scenes, though not my cup of tea. Both Benedicts, Tilda, and Chiwetel were all great. I can't really find any fault with any of the actors, but Mads' Kaecilius could have used some work like I said.
I did enjoy the twists to the source, though. I don't really want to give spoilers for either the comics or the movie, at least not right now, but I think the movie's take on Mordo and the Ancient One's relationship worked better for me than the comics.
But the real reason to see it, and it absolutely should be in 3D, is definitely the visuals. Even on a crappy hidden camera the effects are amazing. It is pretty much 100% exactly what it should have been as a movie: Puke inducing acid trip with up never being up roller coaster of fun. The use of magic was absolutely great. The commercials really do no justice to seeing the visual sequences all in one sitting. Like only being allowed a single bite of cake.
I usually don't like how the MCU, or any cape movie now that I think about it, movies resolve their plots, but this one I actually did. Real good use of the story there. I wouldn't rank it as my favorite MCU movie, or even in any "Top X" list, but it's definitely worth a watch. Normally I'd say the movie was worth scheduling time to watch on TV or pay-per-view, but the effects alone make it worth the extra price for a 3D ticket. And I got that from a shoddy cam.
Considering all the soul selling demon talk so possibly Zarathos and Johnny Blaze on Agents of SHIELD.
Not quite how that particular character works, but Robbie isn't an Inhuman so I'll take it.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is still weeks out and Johnny Depp is already attached to the sequel. That should make some people really happy, getting Hunter S Thompson wearing yet another new hat. Ha, nailed it. Trish Walker, along with Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) who was obviously going to show up and Scott Temple (Stick) who not so obviously but still awesomely, are all confirmed for Defenders cameos. My next prediction is Wil Traval's Nuke Will Simpson. Oh, and Wai Ching Ho (Crane Mother Madame Gao) as well. I think Defenders will be the culmination of all the Hand storylines from Daredevil, and whatever happens in Iron Fist.

Should have gone with the obvious, but Jessica Henwick will be dropping in on The Defenders as well. She is Colleen Wing on Iron Fist, who is the second half of the Daughters of the Dragon with Misty Knight. Her name shows up at the end of Luke Cage on a flier that Claire stops to look at for martial arts training.

Deadpool 2 loses another person, this time in the way of musician Junkie XL, who said on Twitter he won't be scoring for the sequel. Personally, I'm going to go ahead and shrug my shoulders on this one, since while the soundtrack of the first movie was fine, it just didn't really do much for me.

Wonder Woman trailer looks decent enough. I've been playing the hell out of Battlefield 1 the last couple of weeks though, so that may be influencing my opinion a bit.
