Was that just me, or was that Crispin Freeman as a guard pony?

It probably was. MLP:FiM is good on a VA's resume these days.

I liked the opening double episode.

It was interesting to see some of the history of Luna/Celestia/Discord. I'm thinking Luna went off the deep end because of Discord's influence, initially, since the implication is that the Discord defeat occurred just before she became Nightmare Moon.

They went long view this time it seems. Up to this point the first episode rarely, if ever, had any connection to the rest of the series except as a little mention at best. This time though it was the beginning of a longer story arc, and time will tell how that goes. If anything I'm mildly interested.

No songs, which was a great letdown for the two of us.

Maybe they'll do an entire musical episode.

They're bound to get Neil Patrick Harris eventually.

Loved the opening. Very nostalgic. Felt like answering a lot of questions that had been floating around and cluttering up the narrative. Got a good feeling about this season!

Yeah I noticed this too. Its kind of balls-crazy to make references all the way to the show's permier 3 years ago in order to make the storyline understood. They're really embracing their lore and character development these days to start a season off like that.

The season 3 finale was essentially this. It had like 7 songs or so. Pretty good ones, too.

We've made it a couple days without comment on a Cutie Mark Crusaders episode. Lolgaxe miss it or something?

The CMC are the Chibi-Usas of the current cartoon world and they can all be melted into glue for all I care. Sucks the first song of the season is theirs. Also kind of disappointed the whole lockbox thing has fallen off the radar. At least next week is the superhero episode so I've got that to look forward to.

The season has been pretty mundane, short of the super hero episode with Flutterhulk, but next week is finally a Pinkie Pie episode and it has Weird Al in it. So that's going to be a huge heap of lolrandom.

Of course they would do that the week I'm gonna be out of town. I'll have to make sure my roommate knows not to delete it off the DVR before I get home.

It was every bit as random as I imagined it would be, and mostly a musical episode which is a big duh. Plus a cameo by Harvey the Wonder Hamster and Al's old wardrobe. Probably best episode of the season, but I am bias towards Pinkie Pie episodes.

So, the treasure chest... Tree-Castle Friendship.

Truth be told, I was half expecting Discord to be lying about working with ol' whatshisface in order to give Twilight a chance to get the final key. Sadly, I was wrong.
