So anyone else seen this yet? I thought it was pretty good overall. The twist in the middle was quite interesting.

Gotta admit there were a couple things that left me head scratching at the end, though:

If the Jack who blew up Tet was #49, and the Jack who shows up at the end to provde the "happy-ever-after" ending was #52, were were 50 & 51? Also, how many other unaccounted for Jacks and Victorias are scattered about the world? Could be as many as 48, perhaps. Won't all of them notce that Tet shut down? And what happens when they show up trying to figure it out? Presumably *all* the Jacks had faulty memory wipes, so won't they all remember Julia as their wife?

Perhaps some of that was to leave the way for a sequel, but some just doesn't make sense to me.

Thoughts?

I know it's a necro, but I'm not making a new thread for this.

Finally got to see this movie, and I encourage everybody to watch it, if only for the soundtrack. There are some awesome Sunshine and Tron vibes in the score and a lot of the tracks sound like something out of a 80's/90's movie with a younger Tom Cruise.

The movie itself was fairly cliche, not that it's a bad thing. I liked it.

I'm generally not a big fan of bittersweet endings, but this one was weirdly sweet for one.

All the Techs share the same dream of Julia, but only Tech 49 and 52 actually saw her. Seeing her apparently set off a memory reboot in 49 and 52, but more importantly, it solidified their belief that she was not just a figment of their imagination. The other Techs haven't seen her, so they still dream of her, but are in a relationship with Victoria. They might scatter once they discover the Tet is down, but only Tech 52 would go looking for her, because he knew she was real.

And I don't think there's any chance the other clones would run into them. Assuming there are maybe 98 Jack and Victoria scattered across the globe, what are the odds of them running into each other in a post-apocalyptic world with no or limited means of transportation (assuming the VTOL aircrafts shut down as well)? They would be spread across continents and such. Give 99 people a red flag and tell them to wander aimlessly for half a lifetime. Would two ever meet?

As for a sequel, I'd like the writer to flesh out the Julia/Tech 52 relationship, but I think it's pretty obvious that it was meant as a solo movie. It kinda bummed me out that we spent the entire movie getting to know Tech 49 - his personality and all that - and then the ending wants us to transfer our emotional investment over to Tech 52 for that happy ending. It reminded me of Data's suicide in Star Trek: Nemesis. I can't help but think that Tech 49 was special, because he's the guy who went through all this for Julia.

But seriously, go buy it. It's well worth the watch.
