So Marvel is giving out 700 #1 issues of comics free til tomorrow. You have to get the app, but the comics should be free til Tues. evening. I know lolgaxe is a big comic fan, and a few others have expressed interest. But hell free is free, you may even enjoy some!

Btw the servers are being hit very hard with the amount of traffic they have been getting so it might take a few tries to download the app. Usually happens with free stuff.

I'm getting what I can, but its tough going. As far as my picks, I'd suggest the current Hawkeye and Indestructable Hulk. Nextwave was a hilarious series as well. Deadpool Vol. 1 with Joe Kelly is certainly a must. I've so far gotten both Taskmaster #1s after a million tries between yesterday and earlier today.

To our customers:

It’s been a whirlwind weekend, and we’re fresh from SXSW where Marvel Comics launched their Marvel #1 promotion featuring over 700 free comics distributed via our platform.

We expected a high degree of excitement for the Marvel initiative – and had believed ourselves prepared – but unfortunately we became overwhelmed by the immense response. We’re still struggling to keep our systems up.

The result is that you aren’t getting your comics when and where you want.

We don’t like letting you down. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve these issues so that you can have the experience you’ve come to expect.

To that end, we’re pausing the Marvel Comics #1 promotion for the time being. For those of you that want to take advantage of the offer – you will get your comics! Until we are able to reinstate this program in our systems, please click here and fill out this simple form, so you can be informed as soon as there is an update.

We’ll be communicating with you as often as we can and deeply appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve seen from our customers while we right the ship.

Somehow I miss the olden days when I was really heavy into Marvel Comics and bought everything they published here in Germany. But what always prevents me to go to my trusty comic store around the corner and finance the owner another holiday is the fact that after I continously read the comics for ~4,5 years there were almost never any new stories. Only the same old same old in slightly altered ways..

Now I try to be more selective. I ordered the whole Preacher series which took awhile for my comic dealer to organize since I wanted them in English. After that I plan to give Gaimans Sandman a try. If someone here has any other must-reads I would be thankful. I already read Watchmen (which I loved) and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which somehow didn't click for me).

Sorry for going offtopic but this topic took me back quite a few years.
