I agree with everything you just said. Except I took the chance to comfort Misha. It was awkward and it did not go well and all I wanted was to help her over Shizune but that never came to be. I feel for Shizune I really do. But I just don't have it in me to fix someone who is that broken psychologically.

I ended up saving Lily for last and she ended up being my favorite. But Hanako was also a good story as well and a nice contrast to the Shizune story. Hanako is broken but trying too hard to fix her is tantamount to @#%^ing up. She is stronger than you think and is on the way to working it out for herself which is what she really needs.

Rin is just a conundrum. Very original character. But so distant and so hard to read. Actually having known some girls like her in real life I enjoyed the story arc even though it was another frustrating one.

Glad to see some others from the Zam community enjoying it. It was a pleasant surprise for me so I thought it was worth sharing. :)

I also really like the interaction in the arcs. Emi's arc made me want to know about about the student council. Shizune's arc made me curious about Lily. Lily's arc has me worrying about Hanako.

... and at the end of Hanako's arc, I think I'll still be pretty "meh" about Rin Smiley: tongue

I feel like I'll get the most from Hanako's arc, because (IRL spoiler): I've dated a girl with severe burns. Not to get too in-depth, but she grew up in India. Apparently her middle school put on a Christmas/winter festival with their thousands of students that included a group of girls riding in a minivan around the school fields in Santa outfits... while holding sparklers. I think you can see where this is going... apparently the sparklers ignited the costumes. Some of the girls died before getting out of the inferno in the van. My friend "got lucky"; "only" her arms and part of her face suffered second and third degree burns. She spent a year in PT recovering from her injuries until she could again function normally; not only did her arms get horribly burned, but they rook skin grafts from her thighs to help her hands, causing additional scarring. In high school her family emigrated to the US, and I met her while she was in college. I'm not sure what her personality was before, but by that time she had adopted an almost Emi-esque personality; she refused to have her injuries define her. She openly told her story, and how it set the pace but not the limit for her life. I'm happy to say that she strove to get her masters in physical therapy, with a concentration in burn victims and just graduated this year. While things didn't work out for us romantically, she remains one of the most inspiring and beautiful people I've ever known. So, while I doubt Hanako will do an about-face and become Emi, I do hope she manages to overcome much of her social awkwardness. I felt a similar way in the Shizune arc, knowing hearing-impaired people IRL, and I was happy seeing a deaf girl doing so well.

Anyway, yeah, great series Smiley: grin Act 3 with Lilly right now!

Smiley: laugh

Thankfully, no. I also don't know anyone without arms or legs!

I'm divided on Lilly's path so far. I do like her character, but I feel like the writing is much different than for other characters. First of all, Hisao's heart condition is stressed much more in Lilly's path (although I feel like with all the walking he does, he's getting just as much exercise as in Shizune's). And Lilly is a sweetheart. Also, drop-dead gorgeous. But I kinda feel like the entire path seems a little... fake? Too "perfect"? Like Lilly is a Mary Sue who's wonderful. Even the interactions feel forced to "good" results; especially coming from Shizune's story, where the drama with Misha set the stage for almost two full acts... compared to Lilly's, where there should have been a major conflict with Hanako after you announce your relationship, but it ends up with her going "Oh goody!" No way. Sure, she's warming up to Hisao, but she relied almost 100% on Lilly previously. If she's suddenly talking about being in love with someone else, the girl would likely flip. It seems out of character for her... then again, I have yet to play her arc. But she comes across as the clingy type who freaks out if her world is suddenly changed. So even though Hisao's heart keeps coming up, things just keep going his way.

Maybe I'm describing it poorly. I also need to see what choices he'll get to make, to see what the good and bad endings are. It might not end so "perfectly."

As I understand it from TVTropes(haven't played it yet), Hanako's arc is all about her trying to come out of her shell on her own and feeling like you and Lilly are coddling her. In Lilly's arc, you give her a lot more space and she does exactly that. So it's at least internally congruous.

Yup, that pretty much hits the nail on the head. The thing is, that isn't really revealed until the end. She gets obviously stronger as time goes on, but Hisao and Lily kind of assume it's been Hisao's influence, and keep trying to protect her.

You know, I've been thinking about what happens to the girls if you play a different route. Some of them get happy enough endings, I'd imagine, but others, it's pretty depressing to think about. Though some of those endings may be a bit different depending on who else you date.

Lilly: She'll do fine without you, IMO. Though it was heartbreaking playing Emi's route right after hers, since she pops up halfway through and says "Oh, I thought you'd forgotten about me".
Hanako: Same as Lilly. She'll be okay. You can make things worse or better by dating her, but I think without your heavy influence, things turn out okay.
Emi: She still remains shut off from everyone, afraid to get too close to anyone. She'll make it overall, but things still kinda suck.
Rin: She's implied to commit suicide in her bad end due to her growing inability to communicate with anyone, among other things. If you don't date her, do things continue to downward spiral for her like that? Smiley: frown
Shizune: I really don't know enough about her to be able to make an educated guess as to what happens to her. Based on Locke's commentary, she'll likely be the last route for me.

I'm kind of taking my time with it, and just sort of going in the order I unlock them, so Shizune first, which I'm almost done with, and am not totally sure I'm enjoying for one thing, I actually like her dad, and would probably get along with him a lot better than hisao manages too, though not without being willing to tear his *** apart on the spot, then Emi, which I've only gotten the opening animation for, but have a feeling I probably won't enjoy as much as the rest of you, just because I know a lot of people with her personality, and they really annoy me. Smiley: lol

Based on what I've seen thus far, though, I'm guessing I'll probably like Rin's story the most, just based on the fact that she's the most similar to myself as far as personality and interests go (and sans the fact that I have arms, and have anti-dextrous feet; I can't move my toes individually. I can move my big toe, and I can move the other four at the same time, in the same direction, but I can't, for example, wiggle my toes. I can sort of move my pinky toe, but only a little. and only on my right foot.), but I was an art kid in high school, so that might play a major role in that.

I met Lily.Satou tonight in Tera. Of course I also chatted with Momo.Deviluke and a Princess.Futanari. What's that got to do with anything? Not much really but I found it funny to see the pervasiveness of this culture. Mind you it is a K anime MMO sans the horrible grindyness and I think any anime/manga fan should try Tera but I digress...

You're going to have to be more convincing than that.

By convincing, I mean post pics of many of the different female outfits. It's gotta be some hella awesome dress up for me to consider another subscription.

By the way, Pold. I've been playing a lot of Dota 2, and whenever I see this one character I remember how you played a red headed female (fire?) mage in WoW.

Anyway, this is Lina.

Lina from Dota 2

So. Many. Fire puns.
