The Trollhunter is a subtitled Norwegian film that's a little bit cloverfield, a little bit Blair With Project. If you dislike shaky cam first person flicks, you may not love it. But I did! I was excited to see it when I saw the trailer come out awhile back & was delighted to find & watch it on Comcast On Demand over the weekend.

The movie starts up with a 3 person student film crew trying to track down a man they, & other hunters, believes to be a Bear poacher. Bears that have been shot seem to be turning up around Norway, the few hunters who have licensees to shoot bears aren't shooting them, & this strange man named Hans seems to be around when they're shot. So, the students find Hans & try & find out for themselves.

They follow Hans into the woods one night & are attacked by...something. Hans comes out of the woods & yells, "Troll!", & then we're off to the races.

The CGI trolls are really well done & Hans is great as the reluctant title character. Even if, in the grand scheme of things in this flick, the actual time that the trolls are on screen are few & far between, the way the movie uses real world situations & landscapes as evidence of trolls doesn't make the parts in between the Troll hunting drag.

And the end is @#%^ing epic. Great movie, if you like monster movies I'd highly recommend it.

Link to trailer.

With a name like The Trollhunter I was expecting the Norwegian version of Steve Irwin.

Just finished it - really enjoyed it, especially the last fight. kinda confused by the end: did it imply that they were all silenced/killed by the government? Or that Thomas got away in the truck that stopped for him and sent in the video? And what happened to Hans? He seemed fine at the end but then he wasn't with the group when the other trucks arrived.

It was my impression that Thomas got hit by the car & none of the others were seen or heard from again. For the camera & sound women, that probably means they were silenced. Dunno about Hans, but I doubt he gave up his day job.

They used to have free streaming for the whole movie somewhere around the interwebs now that it's exposed copyright claims are all over!

It's a very very interesting movie though!

According to my Flixster App on my phone, Trollhunter is coming to theatres in the US on June 10. Unfortunately that's also the same day as Super 8... I look forward to watching both though!
