I think the Eastern temple is the one where he first met Appa.

All Air benders would go to this temple (east) to get their Bison. It seems to have been were bison were raised at.
So yes he had been there (as seen in the pic at the wiki, and in one of the episodes where Appa is stolen).

Yes, this would have been when Aang ran away not knowing that Gyatso wasn't going to let "that" (to send him away) happen.


And the wiki then corrects my idea on there being non-air bender, that are part of the Air Nation.
The wiki page says that all in the Air Nation were benders, so I could see the reason for 2 Temples.
But if there were relationships...or did they just mate to continue their tribe and thus there small size of a nation..
