Mostly a train wreck; almost direct to video quality jokes and story. This is what happens when you have a universe constructed of mostly one time gags. The plot jumps from the necessary beginning of family life to What a Wonderful Life to action war movie ending in required trite romantic conclusion.

The saving grace was the voice acting and animation for the Rumpelstiltskin character. Surely it deserves one of those awards they hand out for movies.

I actually liked it better than the last one. They kind of returned to the simpler story-type and characters from the original.

Shrek the Third felt too busy to me. The first two were, at their hearts, about Shrek and Fiona, with supporting cast. The third movie was about Shrek and Fiona and Puss in Boots and Prince Charming and Fiona's mother and Arthur and... There were just too many primary characters. The only thing I really liked from Shrek the Third was Eric Idle as Merlin.
(Arthur: "This is lame."
Merlin: *smacks Arthur upside the head* "You're lame! Now go for it!")

Shrek 4 was about Shrek and Fiona. It was about falling in love. Maybe it's just because I'm very much in love myself (getting married in six days!), but that simple story resonated with me.

SO much better than the third. SO much. I really enjoyed it, but the 3-D, eh. It gives me a headache.

Overall it was enjoyable, I liked it. Actually, I'll come out and say I REALLY liked it. If the third turned you off of the series (like it did for me) and you're pretty "Meh" about maybe seeing this one, I say do it: you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sums up my experience pretty well.

The third one was by far worse than any other one. This one was a huge improvement over the last, in every way.

Now, as a movie by itself, it was decent. Not great, not terrible. It was better than the third, but I think they would actually have to try for it not to be.

I liked it, but I'm still glad they called it the "final chapter".

Now if only they could kill that upcoming spinoff...

I'll admit the scene where he finds that stuffed ogre toy hit me pretty hard.

I'm pretty much a die-hard Shrek fan, but I haven't gotten a chance to see this yet. The 2nd is by far my favorite, but I really enjoyed the 3rd one too. Definitely looking forward to seeing this sometime, but I might wait until it hits the dollar theater in town.

Yet another bastardisation of a much loved franchise.

I'm pretty sure your opinion was just invalidated.

I don't know, the second one wasn't terrible. It was the third one that was an abomination. And that's what makes me not want to see Shrek 4.

But I think I might talk my husband into seeing Toy Story 3 this weekend.

I liked the near the end scene in Shrek 2 where they sung the cover of that Hero song. And I thought the second cover during the ending credits was pretty catchy.

Leave now. The second movie was my favorite! The first was good because the concept was novel, but the second one was a better movie overall.

Don't worry, it was a great show. No Wicked, but still great. I will say that the new songs were fairly mediocre, but the old favorites were very well done.

I was thinking about buying the gf season tickets for the 2010-2011 season for her bday, but honestly she didn't sound excited for most of it... and Les Mis wasn't even one of the 6 shows! >:( Guess I'll just have to come up with something else... still got 2 months thankfully :P.
