I have always been a fan of the 1954 Seven samurai film, so when i seen in an earlier post that there was an anime I had to check it out. Quite entertaining and although its totally in a sort of steam punk setting, it really follows the original, even to which characters end up dying.

I decided to Wiki it and seen there is also a western remake called The Magnificent Seven, now I'm not that big into westerns besides the odd Eastwood flick but what caught my eye was this:

The Weinstein Company is planning a remake of the Seven Samurai starring George Clooney, due to be released in 2011. The screenwriter for this remake will be John Fusco, best known for having written the screenplay for Hidalgo. It will be set in the present day, involving paramilitary mercenaries defending a village in northern Thailand.

Now im not saying this is gonna be a block buster by any means, but for those who haven't seen the original, but have seen any of it remakes, I would suggest checking it out to see what masterpiece inspired them all.

I liked the 7 Samurai.

The production of this film makes me nervous.

I'm a big fan of Samurai 7 anime and the original film. And with George Clooney in it, I'm certainly looking forward to it.

It's only to be expected, theyre remaking pretty much everything as it is. Plenty of remakes released this year (Red Dawn, Clash of the Titans, Tron (although not a real remake I believe, but more of a sequel?), Nightmare on Elm Street, ...) so there'll be plenty next year too unfortunately.

I liked the original 7 Samurais and the first western remake of it, if they're going to do a remake of that western I do have to wonder why exactly. Pointless though.
