Ok, the title is only slightly tongue-in-cheek, but really the movie was made only for the *** appeal of the two main men, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Both of them frequently appear shirtless or with open shirts. Lautner especially; apparently the 17 year-old put on 30 pounds from Twilight to New Moon, and obviously all of it was muscle. The kid is jacked, and I wonder how much of it was digitally enhanced.

The movie was better than the first, but not by all that much; I made fun of it with my friends constantly. On the plus side, we were cracking up the entire time. Yes, it's immature, but watching two overly emo kids say to each other "I don't want you to come." "You don't want me to come?" sent us all into fits of giggles. The overly serious parts came off as goofy. I personally don't think either Bella or Edward are all that great at acting. However, Jacob, Charlie, and Aro (the creepy talkative vampire) were actually not bad.

It wasn't a great movie, but if you like really hot men, sappy romance, or the Twilight series, it's fantastic.

I'm not *** or a girl, and I didn't like Twilight, but I have to admit staring at Lautner's chest for a couple of hours did have rooting for Team Jacob.

I personally will not be seeing this movie and feel deeply sorry for anyone who does.

Ah, I just hit a search for New Moon and came up empty. Oh well, topic dedicated to the movie itself and not the craziness associated with it.

Loved the books, but I watched Twilight first so I liked the movie lol. But after reading the books and going to watch Twilight again I can see why people hated it. I'm waiting to see New Moon everyone I know said they loved it so I'm hyped.

As for Vataro. Eh whatever. I'm a individual, with different tastes and of course hobbies. I have a tendency to enjoy a lot of things most won't or at least try to look for the good in the bad. I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to bash/flame someone because they like something you don't. Makes no sense to me but it's whatever :).

Seeing shirtless men becomes less fascinating when your husband wanders around shirtless all the time.

I'm not really bashing you for your individual tastes. Of course noone is going to like the same stuff I do. I am more commenting on how the stereotype of a 14-20ish year old girl has a seemingly unhealthy obsession with the series and a metaphorical hard-on for the two previously mentioned males. I feel I can do this because I have a friend who fits the stereotype of a Twilight fanatic to a tee, and that makes no sense to me. I think she's already seen New Moon 3-4 times. Oh, and she's 23. =/

Perhaps I'm just missing something. I've read a couple excerpts of the book but as you have no doubt figured out have not read the entire book (and have no desire to). It's fine if you enjoyed the book and enjoy the movie. But when it gets to the point of obsession (not a clinical definition obviously) I start to get worried.

True. There are definitely hardcore fanatics out there for a lot of different things, and all of them are pretty much just as sad as the next. Strange as it seems though, I don't personally know any hardcore anime fanatics.

Haha, the Vamp was hilarious, as was the inward-facing underwear. Oh gosh, so gross!

If your husband looks like Taylor Lautner, then I am incredibly jealous. And I want his abs. Your husbands', that is. Not Lautner; the kid's only 17.

I'm probably the most hardcore anime fanatic I know(at least, IRL), and aside from the occasional conversations involving which anime character would win in a fight(the last one was a contest between Full Power Belldandy and Alucard), the occasional purchase of figures/wallscrolls(mostly the latter), and the fact that I spend more time watching anime than most people spend watching any kind of TV, I'm not all that odd.

My only problem with Twilight, was that a movie featuring vampires, and as you find out later on werewolves, I expected far more ***-kicking between the 2. It looks like New Moon might remedy that problem somewhat.

The aforementioned shirtless husband is one of a select few of anime nerds so hardcore, they managed to eke out a doctorate in a field related to the subject.

Ha, ha, you don't recognize the enemy within. Are you differentiating between people who generally like Twilight--fangirls and such and totally rabid obsessed fangirls/boys? Because it's pretty different, imo. I think it's fine if people really want to get all into Twilight--they think Edward is cute and they get all romantic about it. It's very adolescent, in the way that people get all squeeing about certain types of anime. I only think it's an issue when it's all they think about. For the most part, I don't think it's obsessive really in a bad way. I just think it's like any romantic crush type things, be it Leonardo in Titanic or whatever.

I just don't think it's stupider than the majority of the stupid sh*t that people get into here. I think it's just different because it's a widespread social phenomenon so it's easy to find other people into it. But really it's the same.

Nerd hierarchy needs to have a spot for Twilight fans.

Probably below "Collectors of TV-based sci-fi books" but above "Furries."

Not everyone would agree with that choice, who. There are plenty of people who would put tv based sci-fi book collector nerds below Twilight fangirls and I think they'd both be above 13 year old gamers. Now also, you'd have to differentiate between fanfic and non-fanfic fans.

Given the collective geekery of Alla, when people complain about Twilight fans being obsessive, nerdy or silly, I mean, ******** please.

I respect that you're standing up for the underdog here, Anna, but Twilight really sucks. These people don't deserve your protection - they deserve every drop of ridicule we can muster. Aren't there more deserving groups to take under your wing? Cannibals, for example. Oh, sure, they might wolf down human flesh and slake their twisted thirst on human blood, but is that really so wrong? Some of them don't even kill the people they eat! Twilight fans, on the other hand, well... they're lunatics, barely even human. Have you ever seen a cannibal eat a Twilight fan? I rest my case.

That is awesome about your husband's Ph.D. Cat. ^^ I recently had an academic paper on Fullmetal Alchemist published, and it totally makes me feel like a nerd, but in a great way.

As I stated in the other thread on Twilight, my main issue is not with the fans but with the books themselves and their content. The fans are pretty freaking annoying, as is the insane amount of merchandising. I hate going into the local Hot Topic and seeing an entire corner of the store filled with Twilight crap. The Twilight-mania really reminds me of boy band fan girls more than anything else. I've never seen an anime fan, Harry Potter fan, Sci-fan fan, or any other kind of nerdy fan act the way these girls act. Screaming, sobbing hysterically. It's ridiculous.

It also depends on who you ask. The collectors of sci-fi books based on TV series probably look upon the slavering hordes of Twilight fangirls with horror bordering disdain. Whereas the furries look at them, and being the generally accepting bunch they are, shrug and accept it. (And then the REALLY geeky ones rewrite the book with Edward as an actual humanoid bat.)

Yeah but let's be honest, sci-fi book collectors are always geekier than hordes of teenage girls. They look on in horror b/c they are all virgins.

Geekier, maybe. But their shyness tends to keep them from being nearly as annoying.
