OK... Just got back from the movie.
First of all:
The new Star Trek Movie blows all of those other movies out of the water.
There's no need to have been a Trekkie, or just a follower of any of the series, or to have seen any of the original series. This is just simply the best science fiction movie that's been made for years. I spent the first hour and a half with goose-bumps going up and down my body.
I am certainly not a Trekkie, though I have watched a couple old episodes of the show because I was bored and Shatner is awesome. =P Either way, I really enjoyed Star Trek. It was a well put together film; the acting was great, the plot was great, well directed, and the CGI and soundcrews really did an awesome job. =)
That being said;
Transformers... Better than I expected after reading a couple reviews and hearing things about it on here this morning. It still was only an average movie... I heard that the fight scenes look like a cluttered mess, but what really was more irritating to me was that they put a bunch of columns and broken walls in front of that cluttered mess most of the time. Add a shaky, fast-moving camera, and it makes it even more confusing to watch. John Turturro was funny, but some of the jokes throughout the movie fell flat. Also, there were a ton of really annoying voices on some of those robots... I felt like if more scenes were left on the cutting room floor, it could have been a much better movie, and maybe even a pretty good one... =)
