The "Badge" in the title was a mistranslation. The title should be as it was, just with the word "Badge" taken out.

Chad's grandfather is probably the same as Isshin Kurosaki: came to the world of the living, fell in love with a human woman, got help/gigai from Kisuke Urahara, fathered children, etc. Chad is essentially Ichigo, but from the other end of the spirit power spectrum.

Ichigo and Uryu's fathers probably met the same way as their kids did, they seem to have the same type of relationship. Orihime is probably the descendant of one of the Soul Society's royal family, hence the ability to alter reality.

That's my view on their origins.

Email them to kubo please, because he's not going to be able to think of something like that on his own.

Quote:
Something that hit me this morning, one of the very early aspects of shinigami was their cleansing/purifying human or hollow souls. Okay, makes sense. Quincy, however, just killed any hollow and therefore had no chance to cleanse their spirits. This has now been shoved aside because the Shinigami in Karakura is unreliable and an idiot, which means any hollow loses his chance at a second attempt in Soul Society... That doesn't sound like something that should just go down very well with the cast.

That was actually addressed. Ichigo: "Hopefully he won't overdo it and get yelled at by soul society."

I skipped half of what Orihime said. May as well have skipped the chapter, though.

I think it'll be another two or three chapters of "Hey, check out my slightly new character designs" before the story actually goes anywhere.

I'm used to a chapter ending mid-action, but I'm pretty sure that they could have extended this chapter a little bit...

or cut out Orihime.

That reminds me, someone really should make another Naruto thread, or necrobump the old one. It got good for a while there, and now it's being wallbanger-ish. I want to discuss it.

Well, this new lady sure as hell beats Chad and Orihime as far as I'm concerned. Hope she gets something of an interesting role, at the very least. Other than that, meh chapter but better than the last one.

Got that right.

Anyone think the guy looks a lot like Aizen? That might just be because Kubo's art style only has about six faces among the entire cast, but still.

Looks more like Shunsui imo.

So far nothing has indicated that there is any reason to bother reading this arc.

I'll read it, because there will be some elements that connect to the rest of the story's continuity, but it will have zero merit in itself.

This chapter actually brought a smile to my face and made me chuckle. I like it, he needed to tone down the serious and hopefully this does a little. Overall this week 7/10, looking forward to next week.

Say what you will, but so far I like the bipolar Unigaya. I almost wish she wasn't (probably) going to be Ichigo's next teacher.

Terrible and boring, apart from tbe "this is an eel shop" line at the end, which was hilarious.

You've got to imagine it said action-hero style.

The parade of new character designs continues. At least this arc looks like its going to delve a little into the Kurasaki past, maybe explain the whole Human/SaiyanShinigami hybrid thing.

Ururu and Karin are cuter, at least.

This guy is giving me the same vibe Aizen's been giving me. "I know all about you and you can't help it."

Sooner or later, Aizen's gonna jump out of this gigai and offer Ichigo ramen.

Okay, I know this is Bleach, but enough with the parade of new characters/character designs already. Add a little more substance. The little bit they do add, however, is at least not uninteresting, I guess is the only way to put it. Urahara being a master manipulator isn't unforeseeable story line. Also, maybe I'm reading way too far into it, but the thought of Karin being a Shinigami is cute.

Anyone read the Hell Chapter Special? It's up on Mangastream. While Ssayel and Aaronierro aren't exactly my two favorite characters, this was rather interesting. And while we're on it, unlike the previous movies this one looks very, very good. I only really liked the first one (and wish Senna would come back to Bleach...)

Yes, I'm definitely optimistic here. If the Hell arc is indeed a movie, it also looks very interesting if it will do more with Ichigo's pure hollow form.

A) Did I miss Chad at some point? I understand the need to do a few chapters to reintroduce and introduce characters and such, but I can't remember the last time I've seen him silently filling panels.

B) Ishida's gonna be lonely tonight, what with half his girlfriends missing.

Also, what is going to come of Ichigo calling that number? I hope he isn't going to get new powers or some sh*t...

I kind of did. They've done Shinigami and Hollows to death at this point, but that much is a little interesting. Maybe we'll finally see Chad again. Would be funny if he's one of the bad guys.

Am I the only one curios about the over-dramatic reaction Yuzu gave to Karin's teasing? I know what's going to happen with the main story.. but I wasn't expecting incestuous crushes.

Anyone else irked by the "5hz louder" comment? >.<

I'm not liking this arc at all. It appears it will focus on Chad, Orihime, and Ishida, who are some of the worst and most irritating Bleach characters. The plot is entirely out of line for the world Bleach has set up, and it seems very much like anime filler. Bleach is about shinigamis and the realm of the dead; and this has nothing to do with that thus far. Also, isn't the Hougyouko the reason Ichigo's friends have powers? Why would some random guy also have powers? I'm sure it's related to Ichigo's bullshiz family history.

New chapter is out after the break, and it explains a few things (I assumed Chad would be one of them, though the whole "parents attacked by hollows" thing I didn't really expect), though the last page kinda ruined it for me :(.

Looks like Kubo is trying to get back a more lighthearted story. I, for one, would like that. Of course, this is just the beginning of the arc, so let's see how the rest goes.

Its slow as all hell and then some, I'll give you that, but I wouldn't go as far as say its filler material. There is slow canon progress. And hey, Chad got a line.

Less lines than a guy in a pig costume, but still.

Don't get it. To use Fullbring, your mother needs to have been attacked by a hollow while carrying the child. Ok. And Ichigo is now required to use Fullbring to beat a guy in a pig costume. ...? His mom survived an attack from a hollow while carrying Ichigo or something? I'd say that's a rather important detail to atleast bring up before coming to this...

The way Ichigo kept going on about his mother in the anime, I suspected that he was still attached to the umbilical cord until Grand Fisher had enough and cut it.

Yeah, I always just overlooked it as sword design. While its kind of the same thing, it just seems more prominent this way. Ichigo is secretly a Nazi.

Though, to be fair, I don't think I've seen any Jewish Shinigami either.
