Are you guys accepting new members? If so I'll try and join in on the next book. Gives me a chance to pay those library fines I've racked up Smiley: laugh

You can join in on Children of Hurin if you like. Be warned though, it's a pretty dry read. I forgot how dry Tolkien really reads.

And don't forget it was his son that did the majority of the book!

I'm skipping, I'm in the middle of reading Kate Elliott's: Spirit Gate. It's pretty spiffy thus far :)

I'm always reading multiple books in 1 time, atm Children of Hurin, To light a Candle, Eragorn and rereading Dune series.

Just got my copy of Arrows of the Queen in today. I saw the Mercedes Lackey thread and thought I'd give it a try. Gonna see if I can read through something like that before I try something like Children of Hurin.

Well, it's not exactly that it's a bad book, just a bit dry, very dry.

Finishing up Acorna's Children, Third Watch atm :) Pretty good, but I've never read an Anne McCaffrey book I haven't liked. Sooooo what's next on everyone's list? Any suggestions? Here are the books I'm looking at picking up next:

Terrier (The Provost's Dog Series #1), Vol. 1 by Tamora Pierce

Jaran (Jaran Series #1) by Kate Elliott

The Golden Key by Melanie Rawn, Jennifer Roberson, Kate Elliott

I beleive we are reading Children of Hurin at the moment(at least I am). Well when I have the time for reading that is.

Living at your parants sucks, getting kicked out of your house by the ex-GF even more. So, not much time spending reading.

We still talk, she gave me the old "I love you as a brother" routine, but I'll live. But yeah to no more cooking and washing though :)

But I am starting with the reading again, so I expect to finish some books real soon.

Ouch, never does get easy.

As for reading, been reading a lot myself, just not Children of Hurin anymore. Sheesh, it's a very dry book to read.

I was out of town for a few days, but definitely interested. HOWEVER! I live in the middle of no where, so I need a few days notice to buy the book online (no bookstore in town and hour and a half one way to a city with one). So go easy on me!

Well, the same is true for me and Ziev, so just order a copy and join in :)

Started in Children of Hurin, and I agree with Ziev, very very dry read so far. Had hoped it would be different then Silmarillion. So far haven't read anything I didn't know.

I noticed that too, it sort of drove me away from the book. I've been focusing on the book with no name actually, so far it reads like Sin City in book form.

Didn't care much for Sin City unfortunately Smiley: grin

Well the thing with anthing written by Tolkien is that it's not supposed to be a story. It's more of an appendix of what happened. I thought it was alright, but nothing special.

Book with no name seems interresting indeed, but have to wait for a while till I read all my other stuff. Unless we pick it to read after Childeren of Hurin.
