I will probly be starting on the Shannara series soon, I liked Landover well enough so I figure I'll like the ones ppl seem to rave about.

No worries, if someone replies to a post w/in 12 months time in this forum it's in a timely manner Smiley: grin

I don't think Armageddon's Children is part of the word/void series.

From what I read in the preview, it was supposed to be about the great wars that lead to the world that exists in Shannara (Discovery of magic, fall of science and modern society, etc.)

Amazon lists it as The Genesis of Shannara, Book 1.

From how I understand it the books supposed to be a merge from the one series to the other. Like a prequal to whats going to come up.

I think thats how my book club explained it in its blurb.

I'm a big fan of his books, I've got all of them in hard cover.

I loved all his books I read.

Landover was just a funny piece that was a good sidetrack from the Shannara books.

I haven't read any of the books in the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara and the High Druid of Shannara. I really need to since the Jerle Shannara books are about Walker Boh (Right?). He was my favorite character.

I never really thought the Void/Word series was supposed to be the world before Shannara, though it does make sense (ie, Elves always existed, magic in the real world, etc.)

I thought it was interesting that in Terry Brooks' world, most of the different races were just evolved from humans after the war. (Am I remembering it right? It's been a good 10 years since I've read them).

I'm finally going to go get the first three Shannara books today. I was thinking about it and I feel like I may have tried to read one or two of them when I was like 12-13 years old. I remember reading about this very depressing city made of stone, and I think it was one of the Shannara books lol. I may have already read some of these and simply don't remember them :) I don't know if thats good or bad Smiley: lol

I'm sorry but to me these books are complete and total ***. I read the first two and there was absolutely nothing redeeming about them to me whatsoever. Goodkind was quickly becoming like Brooks except now that *** finally finished up his series. Unfortunately it was about six books too late. I gave up after the fifth book when there was no ending in sight.

What kind of books are we looking for? More Adventury? Well most Sci-Fi and Fantasy books are adventury, but what about reading the Tri-Pods series?

I finished Elves of the Cintra recently. I will admit some of his stuff has been meh, but whenever he writes his dark fantasy (Word and the Void) he brings me right back in. His books are worth a look if you can get past the silly names and sometimes the plots are repetitive. I own all his books, but I do have to give an honest opinion.

I just can't get into The Sword of Shannara :( I think I'm going to have to be desperate for something to read before I try it again. Perhaps once I get through the first 4 or 5 chapters it will get better?
