Man-ThingFollow

Dude ok I watched the beginning of this movie and all I could remember was thinking to myself "Swamp-thing...Swamp-thing". Since I had much better things to do with my time i.e. FFXI I did not watch anymore than half an hour of the movie. I was just wondering if it was based on the old character Swamp-thing, if it was a rip off of swamp-thing, or if this was a new swamp monster type thing that just has a name similar to that of swamp-thing?
