So technically, knowing you know nothing is impossible, and thus true wisdom in unattainable!

This is pretty much my perspective of stuff at this precise second.
For example, I've been revising a module pertaining to how we see colour and whether it is a product of our perceptual systems or whether it is shaped by learning language. Cognitive epistemology; ontological arguments; all that jazz. It's pretty interesting. I mean, one of its aspects is categorical perception, i.e. if I presented you with a series of blue colours, you'd be more likely to quickly notice that I placed a green in there than another physically different blue colour. But, these esteemed cognitive psychologists say, how do we know if that is caused by knowing that those colours are actually perceptually different (in terms of colour wavelength, etc.) or whether we think they are different because by learning a language we've moulded our perceptual systems to actually see a difference, or whether we're actually directly using language to label the differences between colour and so we can recognise they're different on that basis.
If you've gone cross-eyed, you're not the only one.

Seriously, these incredibly intelligent researchers have spent decades on this topic and have yet to come up with a satisfactory answer. It quite literally is the situation of 'questions breed more questions; never answers.' But if one day they actually come up with an answer, what is that going to do? Is it actually going to contribute towards promoting peace, reducing the number of hungry people in the world, teaching children how to read, and how to correctly craft a weave? I'm all for philosophical debate and curiosity, but if it doesn't actually lead anywhere, then what's the effing point?
This seems to be a theme with psychology. Sort of like green-fingered environmental psychologists who know that changing attitudes does not necessarily lead to behaviour change but insist in going out of their way to prove that attitudes exist in these pretty models that psychologists construct their careers around.
Is that completely unjustified? Or am I just seeing red? lolImadeafunneh

Lol, it looks like you've just taken a step back and realised the futility of our existance. Although its an incredibly depressing and negative way to look at the world, we have no purpose in life. We are born, we live, we may reproduce, and we die. Thats all there is to it.
However, I don't want to bring the tone of the thread down, or turn everyone into DRK's, so I'll pose this question which has occasionally made me wonder for years.
How do we know that the colour you see as red, is the same as the colour I see as red? We learn the colours by looking at them, and being told "This is red". Perhaps if you could see red through my eyes, you would say "Hey, why is that tomato blue!"
I hope there is some proper answer, otherwise I shall continue to wonder..
