It will be missed.

I guess we need a new thread to report suspicious and untrustworthy people now?

Seriously? Locked?

God forbid we relate stories about getting screwed over, so other honest players don't end up in the same situation.

Meh, I'm guessing one of the QQ'ers reported it. Or perhaps it was all the homosexual accusations... which, seriously guys, was pretty d*mned immature. As if you really need any further ammunition to throw at them without resorting to Grade School insults.

Oh well... It was incredibly entertaining for the most part. I look forward to the new lolThread.

Yeah, I don't really understand why it was locked. I don't think there should be anything wrong with talking about jerky players and all-out theifs. If anything, its threads like that one that would make a player think twice before trying to ninja lot an item in the future.

It was a good run.

It probably did need a rest considering we were discussing players other than Valdan in the lolValdan thread. But it was fun. Smiley: nod

Cookie? Smiley: cookie

Remaking a locked thread/post on the same forum immediately after the lock/nuke is not usually a good idea. You'd better hope the mods are sleeping. >_>

Also, it got locked because the thread was degenerating into flames and arguments about Dynamis or some **** like that. It wasn't really doing a good job of keeping the masses informed about cons, just about who people felt were douchebags in their professional opinions.

C'mon Chewzer....you saw the same pics we ALL saw. Go look at them again and then tell me with a straight face we were wrong to draw those conclusions.....

No one called him a "***" or a "flamer", now THOSE would have been "Grade School insults".

On a serious note....did anyone ever figure out what that Rycho character is up to? He kind of got lost in the Flame Wars between SS vs. Lakshmi in the last thread. Hope he hasn't duped anyone else or ninja lotted someone's hard earned gear.... :(

Yes, let's talk about cookies instead.

So for the next round of cookies, I was thinking of making lemon poppy. Sound delicious, no? I need to buy some poppy seeds. I have lemons. Gotta use those up before they rot and make me unhappy. :|

Smiley: cookie

So defending myself against being called "damned immature" is not allowed on the alla forums. I see...

Don't kid yourself; that's exactly what this thread is, even if that wasn't the intent.

Your best bet would be to discuss something other than Valdan, don't you think?

I like cookies, and I will be around for awhile...

Valdan is a known con; he's cheated people out of items on several occasions and it's been verified by bunches of people. Unfortunately GMs will not act on him because he steals items from the treasure pool before they end up in anyone else's inventory, and GM policy is that they cannot consider an item "stolen" from anyone unless it was actually in that person's inventory at some point.

The "public" should be informed of people like him, because GMs will not take action, and he's only able to keep getting away with things like that because of playerbase ignorance.

That other thread shifted focus to another sort of people, those who I'm guessing have unlikeable personalities or are just douchebags in general or done a few douchebaggy things. Not really the same class of people as outright thieves so it's more of a gray area and open to interpretation/debate. I think that thread deserved to have been locked or lockwarned because of the path it took, but I also think that people have a right to know about the truly unscrupulous folks. Not the ones that just talk sh*t and annoy you, but the ones that actually *do* really sh*tty things like steal/con.

People can go back and forth about Holman/Miracles/whatever, but I don't think *anyone* here but Josm will ever defend Valdan. And even Josm has pretty much said "well yeah, what he did was wrong, but it's still your fault for not safeguarding your items!" so he's generally considered a troll anyways.

(Just to point out, once that thread reached the point where it got all argumentative and flamey, I don't think anyone was even talking about Valdan anymore. Everyone in that thread knows he's a douche. Thread only got bad because other people entered the picture and it got off-topic.)

Is that why the thread got locked? All I see is "Requested for lock", which doesn't really tell me why the request was made.

Sus, don't take this the wrong way and I state this is only my personal opinion, but the cookie joke is getting very tired.

Personally, I'd rather see all the "cookie" threads that don't have anything to do with FFXI or Lakshmi be locked before threads like the one in question. This is the Final Fantasy XI Lakshmi boards, so threads like the Valdan one seem valid. We are allowed to praise the really good people on Lakshmi (see the sticky Whitelist), but cannot discuss the bad? Those people will come and argue their point, and those that feel slighted by them will argue their point. Everyone else can listen to both sides and come to their conclusions.

At the very least, it was serious converstaion / debate, even with the drama thrown in and made these boards actually interesting to visit.

Someone needs a cookie.

Also, server forums are generally regarded as social forums, in that players on a specific server can converse about things that might not be FFXI related as long as it's relatively clean and nobody gets offended. (If that's not the case, it's Asylum time)

I thought the thread was relatively tame, at least compared to many others I've seen, but I can see why not all others would agree with me.

Since always? >_>

How often do you see social/lulz topics getting locked/moved on a server forum as long as they remain civil? I can't think of any, except for a few longstanding social threads that were locked simply because they got too large (like, hundreds of pages long over the course of 2-3 years).

As far as server forums go, most of them typically aren't even moderated. Mods only tend to show up on server forums if someone reports a thread for being offensive or RMT spam or what have you.

It's not like server forums get all that much activity anyways.

Yeah, not when people are posting threads like "do you want a cookie"? Look at the Valdan thread where people actually talked about FFXI stuff happening on Lakshmi and this forum got more traffic than it had in months.
