Well, I had an adverse experience of my own.
I only had a little time to play, so I started a mule in sandy, and started running around leveling and farming rabbit hides...always hoping I will get hooked on a new char and start something fresh...I see a taru with a ? before his name, so I check him, wearing nothing to speak of, then before I know it "Oops" I bumped into him on autorun and went through...he /slaps me, so I /poke him. Next thing I know he calls me a "nub" so I respond "How origional" I noticed the misspelling right after I sent it, so he replies (in short) "nice spelling, you must have had your mommy sign you up to play." It carried on for a while, him sending me random "smart" remarks about me being a "nub" but it all stopped after I told him I was just a mule. He probably blacklisted me. He never explained to me what I did to "offend him so much that I was a nub".
That aside...It really makes me feel bad for some new players coming in, with all the newbie areas so crowded...there were 70+ people in west Ron...an amazing number from what is was just a week ago. I can just imagine a new player, not knowing at all what is going on, suddenly dealing with this from a "seasoned" player. I personally would be ticked off I spent the money to play a game that the first person I interacted with turned out to be such a complete waste of human biomatter.
I know...shrug it off and move on. But in the year and 3 months I have been on FFXI, he was the first overthetopimaturdleetassnugget I have run into, and I wished many bad things to happen to him.
So, if you happen to have been that person, I give you a hearty "Good job representing the mature and welcoming nature of Vanadiel! You deserve a poopcookie!"
