Yet another Player Warning: HavoccFollow

First off I'd like to say that this is another case of someone loaning out an item and then the person they loaned it too not giving it back.

Yes, I know that most ppl will say that it's the loaner's fault and that you shouldn't loan out expensive items, I am posting this on behalf of a friend (not the loaner).

From what I know, Malise lended his Peacock Charm to a person by the name of Havocc, and now Havocc isn't giving the Charm back. Now I myself haven't met either person, although as far as I know Malise is a decent guy.

If Havocc or Malise has an account here I would like them to post to explain their sides of the story, and maybe we can figure out if this was intentional, or just a misunderstanding.

Again, I know what most everyone will say, but a friend asked me to post this, and I feel it is worth mentioning to prevent future events.

Are Havocc and Malise friends? If not, Why the HELL would you loan out a Peacock Charm to a complete stranger? I'm not saying I agree with Havocc taking it, But I DEFINITELY don't think Malise should have loaned it to him..

Don't blame the messenger, only posted it because someone asked me too.

well to answer the question yes Havocc has been on my Flist for a long time. I lent it to him about 4 days ago along with my O kote and Emp hairpin. Well I get the kote back but the other two items were said they were sent to me, but never were. Anyways to make a long story short I happened to be in Jueno a couple of days ago and run into Omegashi who was trying to buy the PC off of Havocc once he saw me he immediately logged and haven`t seen him since. I know this is my fault for trusting people in this game I have been playing this game for over 2 years now and have made some good friends and very few enemies never thought it would happen to me but it did sorry about the post and i appreciate Eodezz taking the time out to write and tell Raokodae thx for me hope to see you in game.

Despite quite a few hurt feelings over it, this just bears out once again my personal policy that I simply never loan any of my gear out. To anyone.

It's sometimes a harsh policy, considering there's lots of people on here I like, and consider friends. But I've seen far, far too many stories just like that - "So-and-so was my best bud on the game, but after I loaned him my <Item>, he loaned it to Whodat and they sold it!"

Or some variation thereof.

It's just not worth the inevitable headache.

Hard to take anyone seriously that can't even beat the promys.

But you know what? He is 100% correct. Pre-req for borrowing gear is me having your login ID and RL phone number. I got burned for a scorp harness back in the day but Its not like I couldnt just buy another one.

Stop loaning out things you cant afford to get another of.
Stop asking to borrow things you cant possibly afford to buy.

I agree Dwyn. Although there are a few people I would lend items too, (3 of them are RL Family members :P), I would probably only trust 1 person that i've only known in game with my items. Other than that, I won't be lending out anything expensive unless there is collateral :P

i hope that it is just a big misunderstanding, Havocc's only ever been nice to me.

ive never been game to give my gear to anyone even just to hold while mule jumping. i don't even think that i would temp lend them to some of my best friends.

I have the same policy on lending things out to people who are on my Flist. Only ones who ever get my gear are those in my personal linkshell whose members havent changed in over 2+ years. Everyone in it is completely trustworthy and we always are swaping gear to each other. But, I have people who I've known for a LONG time who ask to borrow this or that and I have to respectfully decline. Most of the time they understand, but this is the exact reason I have made it my personal policy to not loan out anything. Too bad SE doesent have some sort of lease policy on items. Where both parties have to agree on a set time limit on having some piece of gear, which cannot be traded or sold by the receiving party. After the time limit is up, it is automatically sent to the rightful owners mog or something along those lines.

But hey, you snooze, you lose. I dont like Trollie's idea of having anyone elses login password and ID. If this persons account info is given to me, then chances are that person has given to another. I dont want any chance of something coming back on me that I had no part in. Which inevitably it would. So that is completely against my policy.

I know Havocc as an aquaintance(sp?) I do know that he was into gambling a lot a while ago and got into a little bit of trouble by running a casino with AltanasTears pearl on. Hope this is all a big misunderstanding. I say chances are 50/50. Good thing is the charm is more or less much easier to get with seals and having it r/ex drop from Argus now.

Happy Gaming,
Med

Luckily I haven't had anyone ask to borrow anything of mine. If someone does ask though I'd have to refuse, read too many horror stories about it.

Isn't Havocc the Galka DRK who is a girl and supposidly sisters with a Mithra high level RDM? I can't remember the Mithra's name but she was in DeadlySins (like 2 years ago) and AE.

I hate commonly used names:

Havocc
Havock
Havok
Havokk

ETC... ETC....ETC...

Reason why is because I know there is a dirty character out there by the name similar to "Havocc," but I don't know if this is the same person. I just remember he is a big time scammer.

This happens to me all the time too because there are other commonly used names that I mix up from time to time.

I.e.

me> Hi [name of person I think I know] how have you been!?
them>> Fine how are you ^^ (thinking to themselves who the hell is this?)
me> Great! I don't remember you being a PLD.
them>> This is my mule
me> Oh okay ^^ take care... I'll see you around ^^ (thinking to myself I feel dumb now)
